THERE IS A STARDEW VALLEY BOARD GAME NOW!

I decided to buy myself an early birthday present.

(fun fact: most of the games I backed on Kickstarter are about to show up too LOL I'm going to be BURIED in board games and have no friends to play with because stupid covid and ARGH)

If you were wondering - Today is the day! Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes!

birthday

FYI, the Google Photo Scan app...not as great as I was hoping. I think I'll just bite the bullet and scan them the old fashioned way. But I was too lazy tonight so you get this weird photo that looks like it was run through too many filters of me contemplating getting older and what looks to be maybe 8 years old? (I can't see all the candles and the photo is stuck down in the old album and I'm scared to peel it off).

I had a wonderful day. I always take my birthday off because it is the holiday of me. Yes, I am the center of attention today. At least, for myself, if that makes sense. I tend to "treat myself" for all of March because we should all celebrate our birthday all month long.

I slept until a little after 9am, rolled out of bed and had a cup of hot chocolate and then Tim appeared behind me with a card and a bag of goodies.

He got me two video games - Dishonored 2, which I have wanted to play since it came out but it kept getting bumped down my list, and Monster Boy for Switch, which is brand new was the biggest surprise!!

He also bought me HOTPOP microwave popcorn popper but unfortunately, our microwave gave up on it's mechanical little life on Friday so now we need to buy a new microwave so I can use my new popcorn popper! I am contemplating taking it to work with me to test it out.

My parents got me the new iPhone XR, which is great because my poor 6 was dying. This upgrade made a HUGE difference. I got the shiny red one and I love it. And then they bought us dinner, delicious gyros.

Bonus, the universe also decided it was a good time to celebrate and I won a giveaway on Entertainment Earth for a Legend of Zelda prize pack!
Untitled Untitled

Now it's time to curl up with my Switch and see if I can at least get past the Monster Boy tutorial before bedtime!

Bought one for Sylvia and one for myself!

So excited to play with this! And to compare journals with @dreamssoreal ! #birthday #wreckthisjournal

I'm hoping it will help get my creative juices flowing again, make me feel creative. Already having fun flipping through it and getting ideas. Just have to make sure I take it with me everywhere I go so I have an opportunity to truly wreck it!

Had a great birthday weekend, the start to a great birthday month! Going to have some friends over next weekend for a little gathering then go hiking on Saturday (as long as the weather behaves). Good times, good times. 35 isn't so bad so far.

(well, I am a LITTLE sore from Skyzone yesterday...should have worn a sports bra...ow)

^^^see what I did there?

I spent my ModCloth gift certificate from my birthday! :D I'm usually awful at spending gift cards so I made it a goal to spend this one ASAP! Plus, they had a coupon day!

Here is one of my new pretty things!

And now it is time to start closing up the library!

For those of you that came late to the Parks and Recreation game, like me, I just wanted to make you aware of this website and the fact that the mp3s are all still uploaded.

Strike now before NBC needs to clear up server space!

I am VERY SAD that Seasons 4-6 do not have DVD commentary at all! WTF. The Season 3 commentary was so good, I was loving it, and I put in Season 4, Disc 1 and there was nothing...then disc 2...disc 3. Then I Googled and found out that they stopped doing them. **CRIES**

Maybe Season 7 since it is the finale?

In other show news, I had Tim watch an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy with me last night and he may have ruined the entire show for me with a single observation. I am hoping to still finish the series but he just made me think of it all in a whole new way that has made me uncomfortable.

In other other news, it's March and I keep the birthday fun going all month long! I got two more presents this week. My bestie [livejournal.com profile] heiland_coo got me my annual Game of Thrones blu-rays and my other BFF [livejournal.com profile] andy_wolverton got me The Royal Tenenbaums on blu-ray! I haven't seen it since it originally came out and the library copy was long gone so I am so excited to watch it again now that I love Wes Anderson movies so much.

And Saturday is my belated birthday shindig. :D Good times shall be had! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! It has been quite a week, bit of a blur.

Because of ice/cold we had a delayed opening on Monday at work so that day was screwy. Tuesday was a scare of ice in the evening and I was perturbed at how our upper management handled it (but saying at 2pm they were not going to close, even though the week before they told us how staff safety is important). I was very angry as I slid out of the parking lot at 5pm knowing my friends were stuck there until 9pm as the freezing rain pelted my car.

BUT the bright side is that my awesome coworkers did my birthday party on Tuesday! We do birthday buddies and you are supposed to request a cake and ice cream flavor but I learned long ago that the world is full of MANY cake flavors, so I always just put "YES!" or "delicious" next to the cake option and hope for the best. This year was not a disappointment as my buddy made a tasty chocolate cherry cake. OMG SO GOOD! She used a recipe from Cake Mix Doctor and said you just don't use any liquids, just chocolate cake mix, an egg and cherry pie filling. And then make real chocolate frosting by melting chocolate chips. I won't lie, I had two pieces haha. Plus, she found the most awesome card for me:

Anyway, good times. I feel like I've had my quota of snow days now so I'm ready for spring. And I'm about to lose an hour of sleep to daylight savings, blah. Tim is working tomorrow 1-5pm which means I have the apartment to myself hehe. Oh what to do what to do...watch commentary, binge watch another series, play Sims, plays Xbox...my life is so hard LOL.

I leave you with the birthday card my parent's got me because it is very relevant:

So many things to post about, but where to start?

We watched the Veronica Mars movie on Sunday night, in the comfort of our living room since I got the digital download as part of my Kickstarter package. I have...feels. Good and bad. Honestly, the show itself did not fair as well as I had hoped during the rewatch and I think those conflicted emotions effected my enjoyment of the movie. I think I'll just write up a longer post later because there is too much to say and I'm still sorting through it myself.

Since Tim was such a good sport about marathoning VM for the past two months, I've been letting him pick our evening viewing the past few days. I've now seen the Cowboy Bebop movie and the entire FLCL series (which is just 8 episodes). This is probably the most anime I have seen in a single sitting. I liked FLCL more than Bebop. Not sure what we will watch next. We also need to catch up on Justified. And I kind of want to rewatch Game of Thrones before that comes back.

And OMG tomorrow is the PSYCH FINALE! whoops, I think it's NEXT week, not this week. We won't watch it until the weekend because we usually watch together with Sylvia when she comes over. But talk about feels, on I KNOW there will be FEELS! Even for such a silly show, it will be hard for them to resist.

We went to my parent's last night for the grand finale of my birthday (and I wanted corned beef because St. Patrick's Day!!!). My Mom got me a Whovian cookbook, the Dollhouse comics, the latest Origami Yoda books, 2 Her Universe tops, and some instant chai. She also got me a dupe of the Beatles song book which I am exchanging, I think to get a copy of Frozen or Catching Fire...or maybe Adventure Time.

Speaking of shopping...oh I was WEAK...so weak. Entertainment Earth emailed me on Thursday, telling me that the Adventure Time Funko Pop figures were 30% off in the Daily Deal and...I may have ordered all of them. 10 figures. I did want them all though, I just didn't expect to buy them all at once but the deal was too good to pass up! They retail for $12, usually go for about $10 bu they were all $7-$8! SUCH A DEAL!

And now I'm going to start winding down because I agreed to go into work early tomorrow (usually I work 1-9) to help out with preschool outreach, so I need to be to the school by 10:30 to do a storytime, then go back to the branch, then I go back to the school again at 2pm, then I have manga/anime club from 4-5:30...somewhere in there I need to eat lunch...gonna be an exhausting day!!! But I am making taco dip (or taco ooblek as my mom calls it) for dinner, so that is my treat to myself. :)

Don't forget, I STILL NEED QUESTIONS FOR APRIL! Have fun with it! I don't mind - it can be personal or fandom related stuff. :D
orangerful: (party w piggy // orangerful)
It's been a busy few days! Because of the snow, we had Sylvia here on Monday. My Mom emailed me a link to the latest Jimmy Fallon Hashtags bit and we watched that and immediately fell into a Jimmy Fallon YouTube hole for the rest of the afternoon LOL. God bless the Late Show YouTube channel!!!!!

We also finished up Season 2 of Veronica Mars. I have many thoughts to post and I will save them for later because otherwise this will be all over the place! Suffice it to say, I did remember most of the "mystery" and I still was not happy with the ending. Meh.

Yesterday was my birthday (thank you all for the birthday wishes!!!!). Because the weather was so cold and miserable, we mostly stayed inside and played video games and watched TV (caught up on Justified). Then Tim took me out for sushi dinner as a treat! OMG I had a large Sapporro and way too much sushi, I was ready to burst by the end but it was worth it. Then we bought some pie at Giant and came home, had a few drinks, watched "Ninja Scroll" (Tim convinced me I should see it and it would fit into the Japanese theme of the evening), and after that we had delicious pie and watched the latest episode of "Community". So, yeah, it was a lazy birthday but I was fine with that. :)

Birthday presents! :-D In case you were wondering what was inside the packages ;-)

OH! And Tim got me The Art of Tangled and the Deluxe Edition of the Frozen soundtrack! Karen got me the Fan Phenomona Buffy book for my Buffy Studies collection (someday I will have a Whedon library! you will see! And you can all have cards there...just return stuff on time and no one gets hurt). And [livejournal.com profile] andy_wolverton got me the big huge Beatles "All The Songs" book! :D I am so spoiled, I have awesome friends, yes?

AAAAAAAAAAAAND I finally watched the first episode of Orphan Black! Karen got disc 1 from Netflix and let me borrow it, I need to watch them all by Saturday so I can mail it back for her. But I really liked it! More once I've seen more!

Okay, gonna go look at my shiny new books now. Must learn ALL THE THINGS! If you have any favorite Beatles songs you need me to look up, I can do that for you! god I'm such a librarian.

Last year it was SDCC, this year, it's London.

Yes, I just clicked the "PURCHASE TICKETS" button on the Wyndhams Theatre website and bought 1 ticket to see "Much Ado About Nothing" with David Tennant and Catherine Tate on June 7th 2011. Managed to find 1 stall seat left, Row K, Seat 25. :)

Hey, I survived San Diego on my own, I think I can handle London! I got my passport renewed last year, dagnabit, and I'm gonna USE IT!

Now I've got to book my flight and a hotel. Looks like to get the best price I'll probably do 5/31-6/8. Long trip...that or book a shorter trip but pay more for the flight. Hm...

Oh yeah and probably should request off work!

And now I'm thinking, since I'm going to be there, I might as well get tickets for this. I mean, it overlaps and there are still seats available. Cheap seats too (because I don't feel the need to be up-close like I would for the Much Ado)

My parents said they would help me pay for it as my 30th birthday present. Which is good because the hotels are going to kick my butt when it comes to price. I don't need anything fancy, but even at $150/day, that's a lot of money.

So, [livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr, think you'd be free to get a cup of coffee that week? :-)

okay, I'm both really excited about this and freaking out at the same time haha.

previously on [livejournal.com profile] orangerful: Amy and AD revealed their super secret birthday surprise - a trip to Las Vegas to see Cirque de Soleil's salute to The Beatles "LOVE"

But, of course, the birthday celebration did not end there! My actual birthday was this past Thursday, March 4th (explains the radio silence, eh?). AD surprised me with a pile of presents and I convinced him to make a Dr Pepper cake, something I only found out existed the week before because of a link posted on the Dr Pepper Facebook page.

The cake was quite the experience, hard to really describe. It had the consistency of carrot cake, but since there were marshmallows and chocolate involved, it made me think of Rocky Road ice cream, but then there were walnuts and frosting on top like some kind of crazed brownie. It was good stuff, very different. I love trying new things!

Then for the prezzies - AD picked up the Xbox Live Messenger kit for me which I've wanted for awhile. It's ridiculous because it's a chatpad that plugs into your Xbox controller. But it makes things so much easier if I want to just send someone a quick note of hello and not go through the bother of getting my headset on etc..

I also go a little mini MO from Wall-E who actually CLEANS! He's got little brushes on the bottom and when you roll him across a surface, he'll pick up bits of paper and such. Again, ridiculous but awesome. He's on my desk at work since he's not quite to scale with Eve and Wall-E on my desk.

I have a Prince Naveen and Tiana (in frog form) now. They are adorable little stuffed toys, perfect size (Apollo agrees). Makes me want to see that movie again. Trying to decide if I want to pre-order from Amazon or just go pick it up the day it comes out next week.

Speaking of things coming out on blu-ray that i need to pre-order that tie into my birthday - AD also got me a Jesse (from Toy Story 2) doll!!!!! You pull her string and she says things like "YEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAH!" and "SWEET MOTHER OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN!" which cracks me up every time.

And to top off this very animated birthday celebration, AD snagged me a copy of "Coraline" on blu-ray. It came with a set of 3-D glasses so I can't wait to watch it in 3D. I mean, I already heart it so much in 2D.

In my inbox was an email from AD's parents who got me a surprise gift - as if Beatles wasn't enough, Amy and I will also be enjoying the talents of some *ahem* men from Australia. Yes, they got us tickets to see The Thunder from Down Under. Yeah, we will be giggling like little girls. It's gonna be ridiculous but I would never pay to see something like that...but I'm not gonna say no to a birthday present! LOL!

On Sunday my parents took us to Fogo de Chao which is an Brazilian Steakhouse of AWESOME! You pretty much have a stop/go sign on your table and after you've snacked on salad for a little bit, you flip it to green for "go" and these gauchos with meat on sticks start to magically appear and slice off bits for you. We ate WAY too fast but it was so good. I want to go back, I feel like we made a few rookie mistakes (too much salad, let them fill up our plates with meat instead of pacing ourselves) so next time I'll know what to expect. We were just in awe and got overwhelmed. Then we had dessert and then the manger brought me MORE cake because my dad told him it was my birthday! So, yeah, I think I'm still recovering from that, LOL!

So, 29 is off to a good start. My Entertainment Earth order happened to ship last week too so I should have the new Starbuck and Leoben pack tomorrow, and my $25 Gamestop gift card arrived yesterday so I'm all set for the new DragonAge expansion next week. AND I beat Mass Effect 2 (I'll fangirl about that in a later post, that game is so frakkin awesome).
orangerful: (i heart my friends // orangerful)
Amy was trying to get us to come out to dinner tonight. She claimed she had "cabin fever" and was craving oysters and we should all meet up at the Anne Arundel Seafood Co. down the street from their house.

We get there, and for some odd reason, Amy is holding a large box. I'm like 'wtf?' (mostly because I'm on meds for this stupid cough and my brain is slowed by the muscous). She gives me the box and tells me to unwrap it.

So open it up...there's sheet music to The Beatles "Drive My Car" inside...then some paper...then old library books...wtf???...then MORE sheet music...another random book...finally a folder...hm...I open up the folder and their a picture of people milling around outside and it says "Haven't you always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon?" and now I'm really like ????? but then I lift up the photo and see the REAL surprise underneath.

relive the magic with me )

Yet another fabulous birthday. First I spoiled myself by taking the day off. Can't work on my special day! I came out of the shower and there was a present for me on the table, wrapped in Star Wars wrapping paper and the cutest card in the world stuck to the front. :)

I resisted opening the package because AD said that what was inside I would want to play with right away, so we ran over to the mall so I could get my claddaugh ring (I dropped it off for repairs) and then I ran into Victoria's Secret because they sent me a $10 coupon for my birthday. Good times. We spun by Giant on the way home too so AD could get cupcake and ice cream makings. I also opted for a homemade Italian Sub as my birthday lunch, so we got the meats and bread. Mmmm nothing like homemade subs.

Then I opened my present, which you all saw in my previous post - LEGO INDY! That took up most of my afternoon. Then my parents came over and took us out for sushi at our favorite little sushi place Tokyo Sushi. The woman who owns the place was there, she cracks me up. She's like "21 again, right?" Ate yummy sushi and a fire dragon roll. Came home and had my chocolate peanut butter cream cupcakes w/ homemade vanilla ice cream with Oreo bits.

My parents got me the Muppet Show season 3, Watchmen, I Can Haz Cheezburger book, and a Brookstone "Mini Charging Valet"(so I don't have to throw my iPod on the floor when it's charging/plugged into the stereo.

We immediately watched the Harry Belafonte and Danny Kaye Muppet Show episodes - too many memories in those two. I still remember sitting in front of the TV and transferring the songs to a cassette tape so I could carry them around with me. (Now, how do I get them from the DVD to my iPod??)

Ah, and now it is late and time for me to get to bed and get back to work. :)

THANK YOU to all of my friends for their birthday wishes. You guys rock. All day my inbox kept beeping with new messages of "Happy Birthday" and it made me feel very special.

Have a goodnight!

I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!

I totally got the okay to take leave on the week of my birthday, so we're flying down to Florida and I am taking advantage of the Free Admission on Your Birthday promotion. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy's parents still live down there so we have a place to crash, it is totally meant to be! I'm so excited.

And yes, I chose Disney World. The ticket is only good for one day/ONE park so I had to decide between Disney World and Hollywood Disney (formerly MGM Studios). And while I LOVE Star Tours and Muppets 3D, Disney World had more rides (pirates, haunted mansion, tea cups, space mountain etc).

OMG I'M SO EXCITED!

Of course, this is about a month away, but still! *SQUEEEEEE*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m!!!!!

Hope you have something fun planned on your special day. :)
orangerful: (i heart my friends // orangerful)
Thank you to everyone for their warm birthday wishes. You were somehow able to alter the weather here in Maryland! It has been in the mid-sixties here all day. We've had the porch door open and its been lovely. Unfortunately, storm clouds are brewing outside, but that won't stop me from getting my sushi dinner tonight!

[livejournal.com profile] lostacanthus, I do love Llamas! It's my Sims alma mater mascot lol! Thank you so much. Now...what to name him...

[livejournal.com profile] jimithingy got me a present for each of my senses! First, a big gift bowl of Fireworks popcorn! 4 jars full plus popcorn salt and white cheddar topping. Mm MMMM! I got the second hardcover volume of Runaways and the second book of Firefly essays Serenity Found. Right now, we're listening to the season 1 soundtrack of Battlestar Galactica. Earlier I was playing Sims 2 with the Celebration Stuff add-on. Now my Sims can have awesome birthday parties! And I got the You Can Draw Star Wars book so I can practice my scribbling! Plus, Season 5 of Scrubs, which I think is one of the few seasons I haven't seen all the way through (I think that was the year House and Veronica Mars were both on Tuesday nights so Scrubs got bumped.)

I got a card from [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy's parents saying they pre-ordered my gift and it should be here mid-March (BSG S3!!!!!). I've already cleared a spot on the shelf.

The cake and ice cream has been made. I chose Devil's Food Cake with Chocolate Buttercream icing and homemade cookies and cream ice cream. So good. My parents and brother are coming over this evening for the sushi dinner and dessert.

BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE!!!!!!! Thank you for the little comments and wall posts and such saying 'Happy Birthday'. They all made me smile. I love that I have so many great friends all over the world.

Now, back to enjoying myself. Gotta practice a few Rock Band licks before my parents come over tonight. ;-)

Another wonderful year, and now you are my "older man" again. ;-)

I love you!

It's raining outside. So my productivity level is so very low right now. My big goal for today is to play 'legend of zelda twlight princess' because I sorta kinda got stuck and haven't played it since...well it's been awhile and X-Play said I should have beat it by now. I may have to resort to looking in to the players guide for a hint. I'm not happy about that.

Speaking of not doing anything important, I was trying to go thru some backentries of [livejournal.com profile] demonqueen666 and [livejournal.com profile] spitefairy to find reviews/rants about BSG season 1-2 (I only have 3 episodes left in season 2.5) and I can't seem to find any entries from before season 3 about BSG! I used the tags to search but no luck. I know you guys must have said *something* about this show!!!

Oh, I got belated birthday presents last night!! [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy's parents got me the Angel Scriptbook vol 1 (which has the complete shooting scripts for 'city of...", "spin the bottle', 'waiting in the wings', 'hole in the world', and 'five by five' inside!!) PLUS Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut on DVD! Hm....I may have to watch that today too...

Okay, I'm going to go see if I can get Link thru this ice level and if not I'm going to watch Christopher Reeve run around in red tights.
orangerful: (party girl // orangerful)
Well, the 'rents came over yesterday, along with [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz and we celebrated my belated birthday! I like to stretch my holidays out for as long as I can.

Anyhoo, you want to see the coolness that I got??? OMG!

FINALLY! )

Also, I opened all of the toys I bought back before my birthday, since it was safe. And I have to say - Lucasbooks, you marketing machine, I have a request for you. Can you please publish a book of all the box art on the toy packaging? I love the little Galactic Heroes and the Unleashed Battle Pack artwork. Please, make me stop clipping them and just put out a book! I know I'm not the only one who would buy it! Please!
orangerful: (party girl // orangerful)
Well, survived birthday number 2-6. Feeling good, feeling happy. The apartment is still a disaster area but they swear they will finish up tomorrow. I am not going to hold my breath.

But anyway!

The 'Sam & Max' goodness of yesterday was not my only birthday present from [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy, oh no. He also got me:

Meteos - a puzzle game for the DS, sort of like a cross between Lumines and Tetris but even spazzier since you have to grab the colored blocks with your stylus and move them around that way. (I had never heard of it, but Tycho from Penny Arcade was obsessed with it for awhile.)

Jaws: 30th Anniversary DVD - omg I've wanted this for awhile. I love this movie. And now I have it in beautiful DVD format. *drools*

Scrubs: Season 4 - because 3 was not enough. I'm pretty sure this is the season we missed because 'House' had started up.

Eddie Izzard: Sexie - Both the DVD and the CD! I'm so excited to watch this!!!

Super Mario 64 - downloaded onto the Wii! I missed the Nintendo 64, so I never got to play Mario 64. Had a little taste of it last night, it's gonna be rough but fun! (oh, and I had no idea how the classic controller worked with the Wii - turns out you don't plug it into the Wii itself, you plug it into one of the Wii-motes and set that down in front of your screen!)

Battlestar Galactica Season 1 - yeah, I've been hearing you guys talk about this show forever, so he bought it for me so we could watch it together and see what the big deal is. :P We watched '33' last night before bedtime (wasn't ready to committ to the 4 hour miniseries at 11pm) and enjoyed it.

I also spoiled myself at the DCSWCC meeting, picking up the snowtrooper/rebel trooper GH set (which means I have them ALL now) and 3 Angel/Buffy figures (Vamp Angel w/ Connor, Vamp Spike, and s5 Willow).

I'm one lucky girl. :D
