What the what is going on with this book cover?!?

So many things wrong with this book:

First, it was so old it still had the freakin' card from the actual card catalog stuck to the back cover.

Second, the spine was completely busted.

Third, it had the word "WOMENFOLK" in the title.

Fourth, WTF is going on with the ladies and that elephant? They appear to be having an okay time but the elephant appears to be very uncomfortable.

I don't know how that elephant was impregnated with those fully grown human women, but it couldn't have been pleasant for anyone. :P

You *are* sending this to that "bad book blog" where the librarians showcase books that should have been weeded decades ago, aren't you?

OMG this is sooo early 70s.

I want to know the story behind the elephant. I'm sure it has some deep meaning in a particular culture. Doesn't make it any less weird...
