I am internet fodder
Sep. 12th, 2010 03:03 pmSo, VOX is closing it's doors so I had to move my book/movie/whatever review blog to a new spot. I tried Wordpress but then got distracted by Posterous, so I've set up camp there. It imported all of my old posts and looks like it should also auto-crosspost to Livejournal, which is what I did with Vox before. But if you want to check out the new digs, feel free to visit http://readwatchblog.posterous.com/
So, how many does that make? Let's see:
Livejournal - my main place to babble about whatever
Blogger - Library related stuff, trying to keep track of booklists, booktalks, storytime plans etc.
Vox Posterous - Read.Watch.Blog. (and I also made a placeholder for just an orangerful blog - suggestions?...)
Tumblr x3 - Mangled Titles, Convention Adventures, and Found in Library Books. Tumblr's interface annoys me though, I can never get the layout right for the posts. If Posterous turns out to be user-friendly enough, I might move my two main Tumblr blogs to that site.
Dreamwidth - my writing blog, which means I haven't touch it since last November when I attempted NANOWRIMO :(
Twitter - a mini-livejournal of random posts about whatever
Typepad MicroBlog - not really sure what to do with this one. Kept it going for awhile with a meme but then ran out of ideas. Suggestions? Maybe I could make it into a collecting blog, post things I buy...
FormSpring - kind of a micro-q&a-blog, had it's moment of popularity but it seems to have died downa LOT, at least among my online crowd.
Facebook - just imports my LJ blog so doesn't really count.
Dead blogs:
Xanga - signed up for this because I had a couple friends on there, but the ads annoyed me.
MySpace - Tried to blog there a couple times but I hated that site SO MUCH that it wasn't worth it. Didn't let me import either like Facebook does
Star Wars Blog - so unnecessary for me to seperate my fandoms. If I babble Star Wars here on Livejournal, enough people on here get it.
And those are just the ones I remembered to bookmark...wonder how many more are out there...I have a lot of those cataloging sites too - librarything, Shelfari, which are both ignored because I prefer GoodReads interface and iPhone app.
I signed up for listal, DVD Aficianado, and blu-ray.com but haven't used any of them since day 1. It's just easier to make an Excel spreadsheet.
I've got accounts on Pandora and Blip.fm but last.fm is the only site that gets updated with my music because of the program that "scrobbles" my iTunes and autoupdates my page (I refuse to sign up for iTunes PING because they make you use your real name, which annoys me).
Then there was the websites I had to make for school - the YA Readers Advisory wiki for my YA class and the Graphic Novels for Grown-Ups website I built for my web design class.
Most recently, I've added FourSquare and GetGlue. GetGlue is getting the most abuse since I don't really find myself out enough to use FourSquare to the fullest (though I am the mayor of the local coffee house in Severna Park...so yeah). Plus, GetGlue is supposed to send me REAL stickers for all the virtual ones I have earned. (but I've seen
jellibean and
dwrd tweeting with a site that does a similar thing...only no stickers - why did you guys go with that one?).
Anyway, that's me all over.
