quick thoughts: Walking Dead

I haven't read the comic book in a LONG time but now I feel the need add Volume 1 to my Christmas list so I can relive the magic terror again. It was a strong premiere, though I'm wondering if people not familiar with the comic will be compelled to keep watching. I know all the shit that will be going down as the season progresses, and it's gonna get messed up. But this episode was only mostly messed up.

But, I mean, we started the episode with him shooting a zombie kid in the head so hopefully the uninitiated will get from those 5 minutes that this show is not going to hold back.

Very impressive AMC! Makes me want to call Comcast and demand AMC in HD for next week.

My friend Maidel and I were on MSN live chatting through it. She's never read the graphic novels, and she was pretty into it. You'll have to join us next week! It will kind of be like Doctor Who. We even made silly jokes.

Like when the zombies wake up and get off the bus? I was like, "Oh. This is my stop."

I was very impressed so far.

I thought it was great! You're right - some people might not get over him shooting the kid, but keep watching. The pacing of the show was excellent. I think Darabont made some really good decisions on how the story needed to change from the graphic novel format. Excited!!!

I had no idea about the graphic novels until I checked Twitter/Facebook after the show. (Makes me want to check out the novels, though!) I liked it--I only half-watched it because I was having Face Time with Bill, so I'll need to watch it again. What I did see, though, I really enjoyed.

Unfortunately, I spent most of the night having dreams about the zombie apocalypse (and trying to keep myself from having those dreams, which had the same result as telling someone not to think about an elephant...), so it might have to become a Monday afternoon show for me. ^_^

As someone who normally doesn't like zombies and has kept away from the graphic novels I have to say I actually really liked this show! Halloween put me in a weird mood to watch a bunch of scary movies and stuff I normally wouldn't watch so I may tune in next week and not be able to handle it, but as of right now I really wanna see what happens next, lol.
