I was going to post about Game of Thrones tonight since I actually got to watch it at my parent's house (oh HBOHD, you are so pretty *pets*) but now that I'm home, I'm too damn tired. I'd have to open up IMDB because I don't know any of the character's names except for Stark.

So, right now, the short version - I liked this episode a LOT more than the pilot, mostly because I was able to get through 30 minutes of interesting plot before I had to watch anyone have sex! Huzzah! (Of course, then HBO felt bad and had to put in a random girl-on-girl moment...sigh)

Watched the show with Mom who helped me identify the evil white-haired guy as the rotten kid from the World War I episode of Doctor Who. No wonder I wanted to punch him in the face as soon as I saw him! Poor actor, you think his agent just watches the want ads for a listing that says "Need good looking guy that I want to immediately punch in the face" ? I'm sure he's a nice enough person...

okay, tired now, sleeping, toodles

Just so you know, the girl-on-girl moment isn't random and wasn't just put there by HBO for gratuitous thrilles as it's in the book. The point is that Dany decides to take her situation into her own hands and learn to please Drogo/make him please her. She asks Doreah (the handmaiden who was trained in the pleasure houses of Lys for that) to teach her what to do. The scene in the episode is actually lot tamer than the one in the book.

So far, with the exception of one scene in the pilot (the one with Tyrion and the four whores), all the sex scenes on the show were taken from the book.

Ah good to know! I haven't read the books, but I always feel like with HBO shows (well, at least with True Blood and this one) the pilot episodes had more sex than story. I felt this one had a bit more balance! Glad to have someone who had read the books to talk to about this! I tend to watch more fantasy than read it!

I watch TB too so I know how much HBO (or at least the producers) can and will shoe-horn more sex into episodes just for ratings, so it's been interesting seeing people who are going into this cold reacting to the story and the "adult content". :) What's amazing is that there have been times where there was sex in the book and it wasn't on the show -- a good example is the scene with Ned & Cat in bed when the letter from Lysa arrives -- so in some odd ways, they're actually toning it down. I was surprised that the scene with Dany and Doreah wasn't more explicit given the book stuff, so am kind of glad that they're actually focusing more on story and not relying just on smut to bring viewers in.

I'm a huge fan of the books and so far, have been very happy with the adaption with only one or two minor quibbles (the biggest being the lack of focus on the Dire Wolves who become pretty much leading characters in their own right, esp. Jon Snow's Ghost). I'm hoping it stays this way -- I started out loving TB, then read the books, and have been less and less impressed by the changes Alan Ball has made with the series, so am hoping there's less of that with GoT because if something ain't broke, why fix it?

I am very pleased to see new fans coming into GoT and reading their reactions/theories. I started reading the series in 1996 so I'm kind of jaded. I promise there will be NO spoilers though -- unless you ask for them.

Well, maybe since Martin seems to be involved with the production, he is protecting his story a bit more? I saw his name in the credits as more than just the "based on" right? I wonder if the Dire Wolves were featured more in the books...maybe they are working up to it, they are already my favorite characters haha.

I was a fan of 'Walking Dead' and had a similar complaint of "why are you changing stuff that does not need to be changed?" but since the writer of the comic book series is involved with the tv show, I'm hoping he just has some other ideas that he wants to try out...who knows!

OMG HE WAS???? *Google Image Search* HOLY CRAP! I forgot about the adorableness of Will!

Okay, no, I didn't want to punch Will, I wanted to snog him. Maybe it's because Will was never a pompous ass. Wow, this guy went from a one-trick pony to a versatile actor in one comment. Well done! ;-)
