dropping the ball

So, I have totally dropped the ball on both mininano AND the icon community I joined. It's hard to find time to write every day. I suppose I could be writing now but I am not really in a creative writing mood at the moment. But maybe I can make a personal resolution to do one bit of creative writing every month or every week. A week is better for me. Some of my days are so full.

And the icon community I joined just overwhelmed me with all the stuff going on. I had not been a part of one of these big ones before and it might have been a bad idea to come back with that. Perhaps I should have just done a simple, weekly screencap contest.

But now I have Hunger Games screen caps so I can make some Katniss icons. Jennifer Lawrence is growing on me, though it's too bad they didn't make her do the Appalachian accent that Suzanne Collins imagined her with.

Caught up on Walking Dead last night. Since I have read the comics, I knew about the whole barn thing. But I was on the edge with Daryll's story since I don't think he is in the comics at all. Anyway, it's time for them to find Sophia and leave the farm now. I guess next week is the last episode for the year though so I'm sure all the shit will go down in that 40 minutes of TV.

Also caught up on American Horror Story...that last one was hella good, really creepy, but I am also curious about Tate's character and their plan for him. And I LOL'd so hard when Zachary Quinto guest starred. He got scary fast though, he was like a gay Sylar obsessed with granny smith apples!

The library is going to get R-Rated DVDs starting...TODAY! This also means we are going to get some TV shows. I put a hold on Dexter season 3 because that is when my DVR died and I lost all the episodes and stopped watching. Plus I know that is the most epic season of epicness and even though I have been slightly spoiled, I still want to see it. I am also highly amused that they purchased Venture Bros. Seasons 1-4.

OH! And I got my hair cut. :) Still figuring out how to style it though so no pics just yet. :-P

ANYWAY - need to go bathe before work! No one wants help from a stinky librarian!!!!

They wouldn't even have to MAKE her do the accent... just LET her.. she's from the region originally. I was really surprised not to hear it in the trailer.

I've only been half watching the Walking Dead. Now that I've read the comics and I kind of know what happens, it's gotten less exciting. Especially because Sophia has been missing for how long? I'm like, omg. Is she going to never show up again, just like Merle? (Er, well, you know.) And I actually am really liking Daryl.

LOL, I guess "icon community" is the wrong word...it's landofart is the one that I've done soooo little on. I keep starting projects, making notes, but then never following through and every day there are so many updates! :-\

It's the whole library system. :) Not just movies but TV shows too, like we got all the seasons of Dexter and stuff like that. you can place holds on them AND now they check out for 7 days. :) You're welcome.

It's so different from the comic though! That's what makes me tense, when they start to deviate from the comic then come back to it and I'm like "OMG WHERE IS THIS GOING NOW?" But it's a much more subdued show than, say, American Horror Story.

AGREED. It's sad, because there's not nearly enough positive portrayals of the region and Katniss in Hunger Games is a huge one. I was expecting to hear all of District 12 sound like me. :P

I don't watch Walking Dead and I'm probably the only YA librarian-type who hasn't read Hunger Games, so I'm all "R-Rated Movies? How are you guys handling the issue of under-17 people checking them out? Do you have scripts or something to handle the 'why are you renting smut when you don't have much of a budget for the appropriate stuff'?"

And do you have Torchwood? I still have my AACPL card...

No worries about spoilers. ;) The mask thing was released in an EW article umm 3 weeks ago? idek. We've been guessing ever since and counting down to "Who's The Devil/Satan Day". haha. Annnnd quoting the church lady. "Could it beeeee Satan???????!!!!" heehee.

Also tumblr people apparently think "Violate" is a good ship name for Violet and Tate. Bleh. This has cemented my belief that tumblr is a bad place.

They ran a program through SIRSI that set anyone under 17 to a CHILD profile so they can't check out R-Rated stuff. Pretty easy. They didn't advertise it at all and no one has said anything. And since our materials budget was boosted back up, I don't think patrons even realize how rough it is. Lending the Kindles/Nooks/Color Nooks hasn't brought too many comments either. :-\

No Torchwood though :( Not sure how they picked out the TV shows...

Also, WHY HAVE YOU NOT READ HUNGER GAMES???????
