Holy crap, I haven't posted since Sept 8th! Heck, that's probably the last time I gave my friends list a proper read too! My life has just been so crazy. A good crazy, but crazy none-the-less. September has been a wild month but I think I'll be glad once it's over and things can just be "normal" for a bit...though I still need to find a date for RenFest and I'm contemplating having a "not-so-scary" Halloween party so everyone can come over and watch 'Cabin in the Woods' on shiny blu-ray. :D
Still need to do a proper Dragon*Con post. All my photos have been uploaded...not sure anyone actually wants to read about it now but...I don't care, I need to blog it for my own memory LOL!
The library conference I went to in Telluride was really good too. I was sorta nervous that I would fly all the way out there and be disappointed but I think I lucked out with the speakers I heard. Or maybe I'm just easily swayed by motivational speakers when they tailor their talks to librarians. It's funny how much of my job is marketing now. You don't really think about it at the start because you just want to get information to people but now SO much of that is letting people know you have these wonderful resources. I think I will sit down at some point and do a post about it on my librarian blog so I can update that thing too LOL. No one really reads it but...I can't really put LJ down on my resume haha. Well, I could but that would be like directing them to a blog in an alien language...
For those of you that don't care about libraries - LOOK HOW PRETTY THE MOUNTAINS ARE!

Resort towns are weird though. If I ever went back to that area, I would not stay in a resort. They are so sanitized. No real people there, but the resort people. I'd much rather stay in the town itself and meet actual Telluridians! But as I'm not big on skiing and know that if I tried snowboarding outside of video games I would end up dead, I'm not sure why I would go back there any time soon when there are so many places to hike out here that I haven't been to!
Plus, I'm out of money.
ANYWAY! So, yes, Dragon*Con was week 1 of Sept, then R-Squared was week 2, then I worked for almost a full week (yeesh, that was rough! 9-5 every day? Why do we do this to ourselves? Who invented the work day? I want to get a TARDIS and convince them that 4 days is enough!). Started running again with
maybedeadcat and my ankle seems to be doing okay yay! Still some soreness in the arch, dunno what that is about, but I don't feel that when I run, just when I'm barefoot. Bodies are weird.
FRIDAY we saw METRIC! OMG THEY WERE SO GOOD! It was a weird venue to see a rock concert in...I mean, it's a concert hall meant for orchestras so the acoustics are not really meant for electric guitars with giant amps. Plus, everyone wanted to dance but we had that awkward to-sit-or-not-to-sit moment. Well, my side did. Seriously, EVERYONE stood up *except* for my side of the auditorium. I bounced in my seat for the first half of the concert, then finally a few people around me stood up so I didn't feel so bad standing, and when I stood up,
caroljen and
maybedeadcat did too, so then it was a real concert!

They even played "Black Sheep" which was awesome since that's the first Metric song I heard. Yes, thank you Scott Pilgrim music selector type person! I would def. see Metric again if they came back. Heck, I think I would travel to see them! Yes, it was that good and that much fun. I love bands where I can dance around and bounce for 2 hours. I'm pretty sure that is how I stayed so thin in college - lots of nights of dancing to music non-stop...and really tiny meals because I had to drive 2 hours to get to any good shows!!!!
(I've said "heck" and "proper" alot in this post...I don't know why this is my vocabulary right now but it is...)
Speaking of dancing around like an idiot for a few hours, we're seeing All-American Rejects + Boys Like Girls tonight. I know some of their songs, mostly going for the opportunity to dance around and just enjoy some pop-rock music with other people. We're having a little pre-concert event with some Rock Band AAAAAW YEAH! You know I love my rock band parties. :)
Gotta go find some comfy shoes for dancing around! TTYL!
