HULK VS LES MIS

OMG Film Crit Hulk review of Les Mis just hits all the right spots!!!!! I am so pissed at all the damn nominations this movie got, totally undeserved. (also pissed that Affleck was overlooked for Best Director. I didn't actually want him to win but I wanted him NOMINATED! Geez, Oscars, throw the boy a bone!)

ANYWAY -- the gist of Hulk's review is summed up in this quote:

TOM HOOPER WANTED TO MAKE AN INTIMATE FILM. HE WANTED TO MAKE AN ORGANIC FILM. HE WANTED TO MAKE AN EPIC FILM. HE WANTED TO MAKE AN INTERESTING FILM.

AND INSTEAD OF PICKING THE MOMENTS TO DO THOSE THINGS HE JUST SHOT THE ENTIRE FUCKING MOVIE IN HAND-HELD, DUTCH-ANGLED, WIDE-ANGLED, HEY-KEY-LIT, CLOSE-UPS WITH ACTORS STARING DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERA.

(Les Mis is my Braveheart this year...I never liked Braveheart and was perturbed when it got all the noms and award. Any time Les Mis gets an award, the God of Movie Musical will cry...it will be a rainy oscar night...)

There's always going to be that one thing that gets all the nominations and recognition when others deserve it more.

Yep, and this is that thing. And I can almost deal with the nominations...it's the wins that drive me crazy. As much as I love Hugh Jackman, I really don't think he deserved the GG.
