Poor AD - he keeps trying to learn 'Moonlight Sonata' but every time he goes to practice, I start to giggle because all I can think of is this:

Oooh they keep talking about snow and snowstorms this weekend. I'm trying to not get my hopes up, but I"m scheduled to work Saturday and it would be so SWEET to get a snow day. Or even a delayed opening. But since I'm aware of the snow, my guess is that it will completely miss us.

Before I forget, gotta wave hi to my new friends!!! *waves to* [livejournal.com profile] starwild, [livejournal.com profile] stinabug87, and [livejournal.com profile] rhi_anna!!!!!!

I finally watched Legend of the Seeker this morning with breakfast. I'm not sure what all the OOC fuss was about. I felt like Kahlan and Cara were well within their character limits.

spoilers for Dark  )

In other news, I gave my DVD copies of Battlestar Galactica to [livejournal.com profile] heiland_coo (we upgraded to blu-ray back in July) and in return she pre-ordered Mass Effect 2 for me, so I'm waiting impatiently for that EPIC 2-Disc monster of a game to show up. I'll probably have to make it it's very own special tag. In the mean time, I still have 20% of Fereldin to explore in DragonAge.

DA spoilers )

And for those of you that are not LotS fans or DA players - here's a treat for sticking around this long:

Adorable...and Elmo isn't so bad either ;-)

I own this on DVD. I just love Fozzie's line about how he is of the "Ursine persuasian" LOL!

It was a CRAZY busy day today at work. Started off rough with a bit of a *ahem* misunderstanding between a co-worker and I, then got crazy when I realized I never told our scheduler that my program was moved from 6 to 5:30, so I didn't have any time to eat my "dinner" before I set up. Luckily, two other library peeps came to my rescue - which was good because we had frakkin' 34 people show up for the Guitar Hero event. It was quite the showdown. The top two scorers were just points away from each other.

Anyway, so my brain is too fried for NaNo-ing right now...instead, I'll show you what other people have written today:

- Wil Wheaton made me squee when he revealed his hidden involvment in the latest Star Trek movie. I'll have to listen closely to see if I can hear him (oh wait, we'll buy it on blu-ray, the sound will be GLORIOUS!)

- I'm sure you've seen this already, but I gotta jump up and down about it again - Think Geek has their Tauntaun backpack up for pre-order! Not sure if I should buy it now or ask "Santa" (i.e. my parents) to buy it for me as my Christmas present...

- Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. make me smile. (thank you [livejournal.com profile] hermionesparkle for posting a link to this). I've only every really watched her on Buffy, but this interview in People magazine made me tear-up a bit. Her and Freddie are so OTP.

- Sesame Street has been on TV for FORTY YEARS! And, as usual, watching the highlight real for Season 40 makes me want to set up my DVR. Make sure you stick around for Ricky Gervais torturing Elmo...

- Speaking of Sesame, you can vote for your favorite clip from the 80s. This is really hard! There are so many great ones!!!!

When I was a kid, I had a cassette tape of Sesame Street songs (oh who am I kidding, I know the exact location of the tape at my parents house, so I technically still have it!). Anyway, I still know all the words to this song. Big Bird looks a little freaky since this is clearly an early season of the show, but the songs is the same.

LOL and here is a newer clip that they just put on the YouTube page. Patrick Stewart + Sesame Street = awesome.

Huzzah! I just got an email from Entertainment Earth saying that my Electric Tiki Buffy statue has FINALLY shipped (I pre-ordered this item in SEPTEMBER - it was supposed to be out in December...)

YAY! Soon she will join Tooned-Up Willow in my cabinet and it will be the awesome! Then I just have to wait patiently for Faith....

In other news, Patrick Stewart on Sesame Street - do kids even get this?

Also, I might need to get a second Master's Degree...in BEATLES-OLOGY! (Nah, I think I'll hold out for the all-Whedon Master's...clearly I just need to hold out for another 40 years...)

Neil Patrick Harris will be one of the guest stars on the next season of Sesame Street. Here is an official sneak peak posted on YouTube!

TOO CUTE!

There's also a video of Abby Cadabby trying to help a friend find his other sock, and Jack Black defining "Octagon".

Abby in Wonderland

When Abby falls asleep and is dreaming, Elmo transforms into a frantic, fuzzy red rabbit and she follows him into an enchanted "Wonderland."  Abby is persistent as she pursues the elusive rabbit that, inadvertently, has pocketed her magical wand.  On her quest, she encounters an incredible cast of fantastical characters such as a bilingual flower, "Rose"-ita (Rosita), The "Counter"-pillar (The Count), The Cheshire Cookie Cat (Cookie Monster), Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Bert and Ernie), The Mad Hatter (Grover), The Mouse (Zoe) and the cranky Grouch of Hearts (Oscar).  Without the assistance of her usual fairy magic, Abby must rely on her knowledge of rhyming to defeat the Grouch of Hearts, reclaim her wand and find her way back to Sesame Street.

Seriously, as if Abby Cadabby was not adorable when she's just being Abby, to dress her up as Alice, in that little blue dress and the teeny tiny black shoes...TOO CUTE!

I must see this! I wonder if I can get the library to buy the DVD...

[livejournal.com profile] bittertwee e-mailed this to me on Monday but I wasn't feeling the silly, as well you know. But today I am feeling good and seeing the Muppets sing "Danny Boy", how could I not share this??

Looks like the song is from season 5, so its not out on DVD yet...season 3 comes out in May, maybe I'll use the Amazon gift card to get that...

NPR emailed out their list of the top albums of 2007, which of course sent me right to the library catalog (what, you think I'm going to buy these albums?) Anyway, much to my chagrin, our system doesn't own any of these albums!!! Grrr.

So I'm typing in titles into MARINA, the first step in interlibrary loan. The search system is a bit sketchy so you don't always get the most logical results. I typed in Easy Tiger, the title of the new Ryan Adams CD. And while I'm going down the list to see if the album is in the results, what do I find? This awesome set - Fraggle Rockin'.

Of course, it's owned by Baltimore County and they won't lend CDs. Blah. But it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine. (Seriously, I'm a librarian, they should allow ILL of CDs to other librarians! Come ON BC, AACPL would hook you up if you asked!)

Looking at the track listing, I know most of those songs. In fact, I think I know the lyrics to the first CD in the set. Hm...yes those are so going on my Wishlist!

Sesame Workshop has added a new section to their website with clips from classic sesame street episodes!!!!

You can search by character or topic and find all your favorite bits. I clicked on 'Grover' and watched the first "Super Grover" sketch listed. Oh it was great! LOL! Now Kermit is reporting from the Humpty Dumpty accident scene.

Sesame Street is so made of awesome. This is just a beta version, so hopefully there will be much more to come!

A BIG Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] jackieocean for finding and posting this treasure. Some kind soul uploaded it to YouTube. They just don't make adorable specials like this anymore.

This is just part 3, but you can watch the rest on YouTube as well

Part 1 - Part 2 - This is Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7

OMG I just went to Amazon to see if this was out on DVD - it is out of print and the used DVD is going for over $100 dollars!!! Oh Henson Co, do not deny us this holiday joy!

Abby Cadabby Plush!

Also, [livejournal.com profile] gypsyjr posted a link to the 'Run Fatboy Run' website which has 2 trailers for the film. I hadn't heard anything about it, but the trailers were pretty amusing, and I have faith in Simon Pegg! haha. And to think, I thought I had messed up on Netflix when, instead of getting the 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force' movie, I received the first disc in the 'Black Books' series - which stars Dylan Moran who is going to be in Run Fatboy Run! It's a sign!!!

I want to see 'Superbad'.

2 Disc Anniversary editions of 'Dark Crystal' and Labyrinth coming to DVD this year!!!!

It's going to be a very Henson-y Christmas, what with those two dvds and the Muppet Show season 2 on the way.

Oh I must have these pretties!!!!

So, the library got a new Sesame Street DVD set in yesterday. "TV Episode Fun Pack Volume 2". Anyway, it had the first appearance of Abby Cadabby on it, and since I have been wanting to see her in action for some time now, I checked out the DVD. I popped it in the player to watch this breakfast this morning and I have to say -

OMG SHE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!

She's adorable. And she's such a 3 year old! I actually want to watch the whole segment again, she was that fun. I know some people were up in arms when she first came out, but I think she's a great character.

Her little training wand doubles as a cell phone. She had to call her mom in the first episode because she turned a toaster into a pumpkin and then couldn't turn it back ("but that's not my trick").

They keep tossing around the term "girly girl" but I don't think she seems like that. Sure, her hair is pink and she's a fairy, but I really don't think that means she's a girly-girl. I consider that a girl who is obsessed with hair/makeup/clothes etc..

There's a few clips on the puppeteer's unofficial site as well as Sesame's site. Also, if you scroll down on the puppeteer's site, you'll find a link to the npr story which is also cute.

Sorry to gush, Sesame Street, Muppets, and Henson stuff always give me the warm fuzzies.

(I wish that some of the attitudes that Abby and the rest of the crew teach kids would stay with them until adulthood. It's like we forget to be kind to others, not judge people by how they look, but to just get together and play a few games before it's time to head home. Why do we deny ourselves that when we get older? Perhaps that's why games like 'World of Warcraft' have taken such a hold on my generation (and older). It's this other universe where it's okay to play.)
