I have no interest in seeing A Fault in Our Stars. I'm not really a big John Green book fan (I've tried to read two of his novels and got annoyed/bored pretty quick) plus everyone says it's heartbreaking in a way I don't really want to experience...BUT I'm totally loving the soundtrack to the movie. Especially this song:

Not sure why, but it just makes me want to dance/bop/spin around.

Will definitely give this band a few listens on Spotify to see if I like their other stuff.

What's your song of the moment right now??

I like that song too!

I love John Green's books, especially The Fault in our Stars, but I understand that he's not everyone's cup of tea.

My friend is going to the 8pm show tomorrow with the special live chat with the cast afterwards and I think she gets a poster...possibly other freebies since there is a trivia challenge. She is to John Green as I am to Whedon when it comes to obsession level and random facts, so I can't begrudge her for that. :)

I've been so out of tune (hah!) with music lately. It's been a good while since I discovered anything new. I've had the new Pixies album, Indie Cindy, on repeat for the last couple of weeks, but I'd be hard pressed to remember any of the track names XD I really like the album, though *lazy music listener*

I am in love with Spotify and I tend to spend time clicking around, trying to find new music or looking for music other people have suggested. I can't stand the radio at all so I only listen to my iPod in the car. I'll post anything good I find for you ;-)

Haha, thanks!

Hmm, I could never get into Spotify - usually I just put my iPod on shuffle XD There's enough random stuff on there to make it feel like I'm listening to some random radio station anyway 8D;

I have an insane number of songs on my iPod and it is pretty much my "car radio", but when I'm at home, I tend to go on Spotify to find new albums and such to listen to while browsing LJ or cooking dinner.

I got sick of buying albums and being disappointed so now I listen to them on there for free (and it's legal so at least that one fifth of a cent goes towards the artists). I've set a personal limit - that if I listen more than 3 times, I buy the album for my collection...which means it gets put into the iPod mix.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one taking a pass on that book/movie. A Monster Calls was devastating enough, thank you kindly--I'm not putting myself through that again. It is DOMINATING the holds shelf at the library though--that one and Divergent.

OH GOD THAT BOOK! It was NOT what I was expecting when I picked it up. I didn't really want all those feels. I liked it but whoa. I did pick up "Me Earl and the Dying Girl" today but it's more my style. Yes, there is a character dying of cancer, but it's more of the Super Bad approach.

Our new copies finally came in for TFIOS but the holds are still crazy. We have Nooks that we pre-loaded with all the John Green novels though and people don't realize we have them so I LOVE handing them to a teen who is in search of TFIOS. Makes their day. :)

Seriously, I was not prepared AT ALL! I just thought, "Oooh, spooky drawings! This looks cool! And appears to be well-written too!" And it's amazingly well done, but DAMN. I hesitate to recommend it to people.

Yes, there is a character dying of cancer, but it's more of the Super Bad approach.

I'm intrigued. I can't quite picture those things going together.

I have no idea how many copies we have, but I do know the large prints and audiobooks have been shifting like crazy as well, so people are going all out for it.

One thing that surprised me when I started working here is how many people actually "read" audiobooks. They're way more popular than I ever would've guessed.

When our director had the brilliant idea to put genre labels on YA books (don't even get me started, I could rant about that for days...) that was one of the books I sat and stared at for days. Do I put it in realistic? supernatural? thriller? scary? It was not meant to go into any one category.

Audiobooks are HUGE in our area because of the commute. A lot of people drive at least 30 minutes to work, usually more. We actually did have a trucker who used to stop in and get all the Robert Jordan books, then he moved on to Game of Thrones LOL. I have to be in the right mood for audiobooks, I'm very picky about what I listen to.

Oh jeez--we're in the process of inventorying and then reshelving everything. No--EVERYTHING. All the fiction that was previously split up into genres is now being lumped together. It's not as big a hassle for our branch, because we just have the mysteries separated out, but some of the others have different sections for sci-fi, fantasy, romance--everything. I'm looking forward to it honestly, because the mystery thing confuses the customers--especially if they're looking for someone like James Patterson or David Baldacci, who can be in both places.

Yeah, I feel the same--sometimes I just want to hear music, and if you're committed to an audiobook, sometimes it starts to feel like a chore. But--oh! OH! If you haven't listened to the audio version of Matthew Stover's novelization of Revenge of the Sith--BEST AUDIOBOOK EVER!! I was stunned. It's good writing anyway, and I liked it WAY more than I expected to, but the audio is seriously amazing. It has snippets of the movie score to evoke the mood, sound effects for the light sabers and starships, R2-D2's "voice"--check it out, if you haven't already. Also, the guy reading is VERY good at impersonating the various actors' voices. Like, scary-good.

OMG YES! INTERFILE ALL THE THINGS! We are headed that way but there is always a bit of resistance. I know the customers *think* they want to just read mysteries for ever but...I don't think they know what there are mysteries hidden in the regular fiction books that some publisher deemed "more of a thriller".

I may need to check out the RotS audio, I'm not sure if I ever did. I LOVE FULL CAST AUDIO! The entire His Dark Materials series is full cast and OMG IT WAS GLORIOUS! They are so hard to find though, so few and far between.

I feel the same way about A Fault in Our Stars! (I'm reading it right now and it's kinda ... painful. I was wondering if there was something wrong me for not being "deeply moved" or swept off of my feet somehow, haha. There are also some parts that just come off as being pretentious, I guess.)

This song *is* cute though. I got hooked on Grouplove through this song, which makes me bounce around in my car :P --

OMG I didn't realize this was them. I think this might have been in a video game or something I played or maybe a mix someone made. Okay, time to fire up Spotify and just listen to ALL THE SONGS! Thanks for sharing!

See, that is my problem with a lot of Green's books. What some read as clever , I tend to interpret as pretentious. I just started "Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl" today and it's much more my style haha. It also has a character dying of cancer, but also boob jokes. I prefer the YA books with male leads who are total dufuses haha.

I'm a derp; "The Walker" is Fitz & the Tantrums. I have no idea why I was thinking of Franz Ferdinand...other than they're an awesome band that you should also listen to.
