Last night,
maybedeadcat and I were playing Forza 4 and there
was a car in the game called "Ka" and I started yelling "The kaaaaaaa, the
kaaaaaaa" ala Ken in A Fish Called Wanda. I was cracking myself up
and then I said something about it and he was like "yeah, I never saw that."
So today I saw it was on Netflix streaming and I put it on, talking about
how I really loved it and used to watch it all the time as a kid. LOL.
Oh man, talk about inappropriate LOL!!!
I think the humor when I was a kid, sorta like when I would watch Ferris
Bueller, had very little to do with the movie and more to do with the
fact that everyone was swearing so much and yelling and swearing and
yelling, at least to my 10 year old self, was HILARIOUS!
I thought Wanda held up relatively well, despite the late 80s
fashions. I had completely forgotten about the bit where Otto pretends to
be gay to make Ken leave him alone, but it really never goes very far, it
is mostly to throw Ken off the trail of the fact that Wanda and Otto are
not brother and sister.
It was still funny to me...I can't even imagine what the Monty Python
fandom of the 80s must have been going through, seeing Cleese and Palin on
screen together...for me, it just brings back fond memories of hanging out
with my grandparents and my aunt in Florida, driving around with my little
brother in the backseat, and hearing his tiny little voice
say...'ASSHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE"
Any movies you've gone back to watch from your childhood that you were
surprised the adults around you let you watch?
