I was browsing Netflix yesterday, just sort of looking for something to put on in the background while I did a gathering quest in Final Fantasy, and I stumbled upon this:

How could I resist Daniel Radcliffe AND John Hamm??? Not knowing anything about it except that these two guys were in it, I started it up. I ended up watching all four episodes of the first season (they were only 22 minutes each so it was like watching a movie).

What a little gem of a show. Very quirky, dark humor...it felt like a stage play. It had a lot of funny moments but enough serious ones that you had to wonder where it was all leading in the end. It's definitely not for everyone, but I really liked it. Apparently Series 2 aired last year on Sky...not sure WHY it's not out here yet.

There is some gore, obviously, being that he is a doctor in the middle-of-nowhere Russia in 1917. Things get a bit gruesome...but at the same time hilarious.

Anyone else watched this???

He's the Doctor! This made me laugh a little bit, I'm supposed they chose it on purpose for the trailer since this is British.

I know I giggled for that reason too. Then I wanted him to be the Doctor...have we had a short Doctor? Matt was boyish but still very tall...

I watched it when it first came out and I utterly adored it. I have the second series saved on my cable box but I never seem to get around to watching it. It was the series that convinced me that yup, Dan was not going to fade way post Potter.

Heard a mixed review of the second season, apparently while it is still the doctor characters it is the "other stories" mentioned in the title and not from the Young Doctor's Notebook...still want to watch so I can judge for myself. Not up on US Netflix though boo!!!

Oh, I don't know--I've fudged the rules for my marathons before. The only thing that would probably make me hold back is it's television, not film, and my marathon queue is already kinda full. BUT I'll get to it one day! :)

It's weird, but I feel like a lot of the buzz for it has happened sort of recently, like in the past month or so, which baffles me because it's been out for over a year. How'd that happen?

I think it just appeared on Netflix so I guess that shows how many people rely on streaming services vs watching live (I am just assuming it aired on PBS or BBC America at some point)
