Reaction:
1. FINALLY some singing!!!!
2. ...except why isn't Meryl singing the whole "you wish to have the curse reversed" part? That melody is repeated over and over...
3. Um...and before/after witch don't look different enough to me?
4. Wow, kinda spoilery...well, I guess only if you know the context...but still.
5. ADMIT IT'S A MUSICAL DISNEY! JUST ADMIT IT!!!!!!!

SO EXCITED! I had questioned Depp as the wolf, but it seems to work (from what tiny bit we got to see).

Can't wait! Eeee!

I wasn't expecting the before and after witches to look much different, because this is Hollywood, and as you may remember in their version of Phantom of the Opera it was like ARRRGH, I AM MILDLY SUNBURNED ON ONE SIDE, SURELY YOU ARE HORRIFIED BY MY UGLINESS.

In the recording I have, Mama Bernie kind of speaks that part too, it's the Baker's Wife who turns it into the repeated melody when she turns it into a song so her husband will remember it. "You don't remember?" May not be the original soundtrack though, I've noticed it has a few differences from the stage version they recorded.

YES GOD JUST ADMIT IT'S A MUSICAL, DISNEY YOU ARE NOT DOING YOURSELF ANY FAVORS.

You know, you are right, The Witch does just speak/rap those lines. I don't know why I was thinking that.

(and I have not brought myself to watch the Phantom movie...I just can't...)

My local musical nerd friend and I discussed the trailer yesterday. We decided that we will go see the movie in theatres, but it will have to be in a theatre that serves alcohol in case we become incoherently angry. Alcohol will keep us mellow.

Do not watch the Phantom movie. Do not do it. You have made the right decision in watching the anniversary concert instead.

The only contributions the cinematic movie made to my life are my best friend's tendency to say, "MRRRRRRRRR" and mean "Zombie Raoul," and the fact that we both start laughing hysterically whenever one of wears a low cut dress, because the other inevitably says "THIS IS THE PERFECT THING TO WEAR TO MY FATHER'S GRAVE."

LOL yes, maybe I will have a margarita before I see the movie. I should have had one before I saw "Les Miserables" because I was furious after seeing that movie. Just hated it SO much.

LOL I'm happy other people mock Raoul. My Mom and I read the book together and there was a scene with Raoul listening at Christine's door while she talks about "Poor Erik!" and Raoul says to himself "Poor Erik? What about Poor Raoul?!" which my Mom and I quoted from then on anytime someone was whiny. Raoul is kind of a dork.

You don't wear sexy low-cut dresses when you go to the cemetary??? ;-)

My favorite character in Les Mis is Javert.

I will let you draw your own conclusions as to where on the hateometer I was after seeing the movie.

I remember reading the book and laughing at that part because YES RAOUL IT IS VERY HARD TO BE RICH AND HANDSOME, SURELY YOU ARE TO BE PITIED. I do kind of feel bad for him though, when your girl can't choose between you and the dude who occasionally snaps and hangs stagehands, you KNOW you fail at charming.

oh my gosh...I just...I am so sorry.

And if you want to score points with your lady friend, offer to use her as BAIT in your grand scheme to catch her other boyfriend...then totally screw it all up.

OH MY GOD that part has always been a huge point of contention for me. Especially in the musical when like a the beginning of the scene he's all, "You don't have to, they can't make you," and then by the end of it despite her begging him not to make her do it he's like WELL I PROMISE I AM SYMPATHETIC BUT IT'S ALL ON YOU NO PRESSURE.

I was thinking that about you the other day! I need to send Thistle and Klei Entertainment a fruit basket or something. My exact thoughts were something along the lines of OH MY GOD, SHE LIKES DON'T STARVE /AND/ IS A LIBRARIAN /AND/ A MUSICALS NERD. THIS IS AWESOME.
