And if you want to score points with your lady friend, offer to use her as BAIT in your grand scheme to catch her other boyfriend...then totally screw it all up.

OH MY GOD that part has always been a huge point of contention for me. Especially in the musical when like a the beginning of the scene he's all, "You don't have to, they can't make you," and then by the end of it despite her begging him not to make her do it he's like WELL I PROMISE I AM SYMPATHETIC BUT IT'S ALL ON YOU NO PRESSURE.
