I'm almost done with the Fluttershy book (sometimes speed reading through a children's book makes you feel like a reading god) but I'm a bit terrified about Red Dragon...am I brave enough to read it?? Will I be able to enjoy it after watching 'Hannibal'?

Meep.

Okay, time to start shutting down the library.

Oh, you'll enjoy Red Dragon. This is the upcoming Season 3 plotline (sort of). It has a great sympathetic villain. Not in Hannibal himself, but the Red Dragon/Toothfairy. Fair warning: The early chapters are a bit heavy on the forensic stuff, which to me is really dry and boring, but keep going--it gets better!

I started it last night and the first thing I realized is that, while I can hide my eyes during the icky parts of a tv show, you can't really cover your eyes while reading. I love that I've already found a couple lines/scenes/moment that made it into the tv series. I had just watched the commentary on the S2 finale and Fuller pointed out that Hannibal had a linoleum knife and there it was, right in the first few chapters, Will remembering Hannibal gutting him with the linoleum knife. Good times.

And the dogs are there too. YAY!

Oh man! I so want to get into reading the Hannibal series, I just haven't had the chance. I seriously need to put that on my birthday list.

It is intense right from the first page, I am impressed...and terrified.

The way Bryan Fuller talks about Thomas Harris' writing on the DVD commentary made me want to finally pick up the book. It's definitely disturbing but I'm enjoying seeing all of the bits that have made it into the tv show.
