We just watched The Last Man on Earth with Will Forte and Kristen Schaal.

It was awful.

I kept thinking it had to get better, but it just was far too painful.

Here was an original concept and what did they do? Slipped right back into some very disturbing tropes.

Ugh, what a waste.

I should have known that if FOX was actually bothering to promote something it would fail to live up to expectations.

16 more days until Community is back. I hope they don't let me down!

I only saw one preview for it, and that's it. I literally know nothing else about it.

I was hoping for something clever, but it just went with the easy "left to his own devices, man will be gross and a woman will still obey rules and know how to garden. I just was hoping for so much more, especially with those two stars. I think it would have been a much stronger sketch than a tv show.

Maybe they will find their footing later on but I am not going to watch anymore until someone says that has occured.

The previews didn't really leave a great impression on me. Glad to see I didn't waste my time. Also curious about what tropes, specifically, you found disturbing?

Oh, randomly: It took me a few reads to realize you weren't talking about the old Vincent Price movie, also called The Last Man On Earth--the first and most accurate adaptation of Richard Matheson's I Am Legend.

LOL @ Vincent Price movie. I guess I should have been clearer on that haha.

I think I was just disappointed that they didn't try to be clever but instead did the usual "if a man is left alone he will just be disgusting and gross all the time and a woman will still obey rules and want to garden" and maybe there is a joke later but I wasn't hopeful by the end of that hour of my life I will never get back.

Oops for the late post. I saw the pilot. I was disappointed as I thought it was going to be a drama, seeing brief promos, or at least a dark drama/comedy. It was cliched and the humour low-brow. Only part I was amused by was when he took Van Gogh's Irises; I'd do the same and justify it as the painting literally has my name and namesake on it!

I thought about giving the show a chance and watching more episodes to see if it got better but I forgot about it. With so many good new and returning shows coming up (hey Motive and my newly discovered love Chasing Shadows) and a huge backlog, I doubt I'll get around to it. This makes me sound bitter but I'm surprised and disappointed it is doing well while other shows I loved got cancelled.
