Caught up on iZombie season finale. Neither of us are in love with the show but it's easy to watch on a Wednesday night after work.

I'm happy that they wrapped up the "Meat Cute" storyline a little bit. This show felt like it needed to have a "Big Bad" each season and Blaine was this one and next season will be the head of Max Rager.

But why didn't she just kill Blaine? Liv's choices make no sense to me, she is so frustrating. She should have told major about being a zombie forever ago. And now this whole selfish act of using the zombie cure on Blaine and then Major? That was just pure stupidity. What she should have done was shot Blaine in the head, the end. Or if she really had an issue, used the cure to make him human and shot him in the chest area again.

Blaine was rambling on like a bad Bond villain at the end. Both Tim and I were like "Why is he here? She should just shoot him again, for the enjoyment of causing him pain."

Lots of loose ends floating around for next season which is good and bad.

I really hope they have a plan of where they want to go with all of this though. Now that Major and Peyton know, Liv could have a bit of a Scooby gang by next year. I feel like she needs that, the show needs it. I'm not saying being a zombie is good, but she needs to accept her condition.

Major was right about everything at the end. She denied him the ability to make a choice. If someone had done that to her, she would have been angry. And CURING him with the LAST BIT OF CURE without asking was STILL NOT A CHOICE.

And now she is going to let her brother die? Really? I'm not sure I like that twist. I hope that when the show comes back she realizes maybe that wasn't the best course of action and gives blood and then keeps working on a cure.

Not in love with this show, it has moments that I like, and I really like the cast but...not sure if we will make it through Season 2 if they don't tighten things up a bit.

I'm really liking the show, but agree Liv makes really questionable choices. I get why she was hesitant to kill Blaine because she knows he knows how many zombies there are and is worried about an outbreak if those people don't get brains. But I don't think the solution was curing Blaine and letting him run off was wise. He's still a sociopath and there's no telling yet if he can't just re-zombie himself and continue to make trouble.

I thought curing Major was a nice gesture, but she clearly didn't hear him before because she once again made a major decision without asking him. I wish the show had let zombie!Major play out for at least an episode.

Exactly, why not capture Blaine or at least incapacitate him! Is Zombie-ism like chicken pox, can you be re-zombied? Because if you can, then of course he will run out and do that right away.

There are a few ground rules they really need to decide for next season, like how long is Liv effected by the brain she has eaten? How often does she actually need to eat? And I think by next season she should have enough awareness that she can control at least some of the impulses brought on by anyone she has ingested. Because that schtick is starting to drag the show down.

I definitely think they need to establish some rules. On the one hand, I actually like the whole 'she eats a brain and it affects her personality' thing. It's never really bothered me that she can't control those impulses. I would be upset if they got rid of that angle altogether. But it does bother me the show hasn't really properly established IMO Liv's true personality. A lot of times I don't know what's Liv being Liv and what's Liv affected by the brain she ate. I think it would be okay to not do that every week and establish her character better.

I don't think they should remove it all together but she's been doing this for a year now and I feel like some part of her true personality should be able to come forward and stop her from acting SO different. And I don't want them to feel obligated to do that every episode when there is other major plot stuff going on. Plus, Blaine doesn't seem to have these issues, as far as we can tell. Have any of the other people he gives brains to been acting like runaway teenagers? Or is this an issue because Liv uses the brains to escape her pain? These are the things I want examined. It's why we need another good zombie around to show us, sort of like when Faith showed up on Buffy and gave us another angle on being the Slayer.

I don't think we've really seen enough of Blaine's client base to really see how they're affected by the brains they eat like Liv has been. Some of Blaine's lackeys were dim-witted and slow, so who knows if that was their natural personality or they ate some particularly dim-witted kids. One theory I've seen on forums is Blaine has too strong a personality to get overcome by the brains he eats, like Liv has. Though it's just a theory. Another thing they should establish on the show.

But we do know Liv isn't the only one affected by the brains she eats because Lowell was altered a couple of times by a scientist brain he ate and also a gay man.

I don't think she can give her brother blood though. Either the zombie thing will prohibit it or will change him over and she can't take that risk. At least that's what I took from it. I mean, they won't even let gay men give blood, so there's zero chance a zombie can.

I do get why she didn't kill Blaine, but she made an ok decision followed by bad decision, worse decision, worst decision. I think she cured him to keep him from turning more people, but I think wasting that last dose on Major was a big mistake.

I do wish she'd shot Blaine again though. Nothing fatal, but definitely painful.

I have to agree that Liv does make some questionable choices there.

I think [livejournal.com profile] 1_rhiannon_1 is right about the blood. If you remember, Sebastian tasted Liv's blood before he became a zombie, so if Evan got a transfusion of Liv's blood, then he would be infected too.

I would have liked to have seen Major a zombie for longer, it would have been an interesting twist.

Oh, I know she will turn him into a zombie, but the only reason she doesn't want to give it to him is because Major yelled at her. I still don't feel like she is really thinking it all through. Major put himself in danger and was willing to die for what he thought was right. Her brother was just showing up to work. And while Liv thinks being a zombie is so awful, she hasn't really given us a full view of that. A lot of the issues she has she brought upon herself - breaking up with Major, abandoning her chosen profession - did being a zombie really make her life that much harder or did she do it all herself? Major is right, she is selfish.

All of those happened because writers don't know how to continue with the story and keep people intrigued for the rest of it.

Yeah, I really wish she just finished Blaine off. I'm sad that we didn't get to see Major as a proper zombie. She really fucked up by using all of the cure.

I didn't watch the final episodes of the season but I don't plan to continue as her utterly inexplicable decisions (and just some poor plotting overall) turned me off to it a few episodes back. Looks like things didn't get any better :/

Blaine just needs to die. I was so shocked that she didn't shoot him. Also, yes, super stupid of Liv to use the only possible cure on Blaine and Major. I was looking forward to zombie Major! No way is Liv actually going to let her brother die. Something is going to happen where he magically lives whether Liv gives him blood or not.

Even with all of the bad things about the show, I still adore it, haha. I'll keep watching!
