Comment with "I wanna play!" and you will be assigned a number between 15-50 of facts for you to share. I was given "32" by
stydia...here goes nothing!
1. I'm left handed...when I write. Otherwise I use my right hand. This caused a LOT of confusion for me when they had the left-handed scissors for art class and I would take them and then proceed to try to use them with my right hand.
2. Obviously, I was never very good at remembering which was my right and left. I'm directionally challenged to this day, because attempting to look at maps of our area while house hunting leaves me confused about where the hell everything is in relation to everything else.
3. I have a very faint scar on my cheek. My mom thinks I was trying to shave and cut it with my dad's razor. She's not really sure as she only found me after the fact.
4. I've lived in Maryland for 26 years but I do not identify as a "Marylander". I'm a Navy Brat so I am from nowhere.
5. I love The Beatles. They are my go-to band for emergencies.
6. Star Wars will always be my favorite movie series.
7. I work at a radio station in Annapolis for about a year (well, interned/worked). It was awful. Do not go into radio if you actually like music.
8. I saw Howie Day in concert over 20 times. I can't listen to his music now because I get so angry about what a douche he turned into after getting famous.
9. I have a large collection of academic books about the life and works of Joss Whedon.
10. I am a librarian but I am a REALLY slow reader. I love books but I take forever to read because I also love ALL THE MEDIAS.
11. I went to SDCC in 2010 and I met Joss Whedon and I cried a bit and he gave me a hug, kissed my cheek and took a photo with me. I honestly did not know what to do with my fandom life after that.
12. Besides Joss, I think my biggest hero would be Steven Spielberg.
13. I jacked up my ankle a few years ago. I thought I had just twisted it, doctors said to stay off of it for a week, but I think there may have been a hairline fracture or something. It didn't heal right so I avoid wearing heels for very long.
14. I've been to Dragon*Con three times and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THE MADNESS! I will go back someday.
15. My under grad major is in American Studies with emphasis on popular culture and communications. It was not planned. I just happened to take all the classes that qualified while taking the classes that sounded the most interesting.
16. I went to University of Maryland, Baltimore County. UMBC. I didn't intend on going there all 4 years but I never thought of anywhere better to go.
17. I got my Masters in Library & Information Science from Drexel University, all online, in about two years. I took classes all year long, summer and winter.
18. I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up...though I also have no intention of growing up.
19. I have been living in apartments for the past ten years after I moved out with my college boyfriend. (That was a mistake, do not move out with your boyfriend if he doesn't have his degree or any job prospects).
20. I climbed up Mount Washington!!! I did not climb down.
21. I've been with my current boyfriend for @ 3 years. We knew each other before that, we both work in the same library system. We helped each other through some rough times and break-ups. I think we are a good fit.
22. We'll probably get married soon but I'm not into the whole wedding thing. I am more focused on buying a house.
23. I have never wanted to get married, but I think it makes Tim feel better because he thinks it sets a good example for his daughter if we are officially married rather than just living together (even though she has an aunt that has been divorced twice and another who has been living with a partner for years but whatever)
24. I have no desire to have children of my own. I entertain children every week at work and the idea of being with one 24/7 doesn't appeal to me.
25. We saw Weird Al last weekend. That is the fifth time I have seen him in concert. He is amazing every time. I am a giant nerd.
26. I've never read the Lord of the Rings books but I love the movies, and will only watch the Extended Editions. I'm not very good at reading fantasy, I prefer to consume fantasy in visual forms.
27. I grew up in a house with an Apple IIe and Atari. We eventually got a Nintendo system, then a JVC system that played both SEGA cartridges and SEGA CD. I got the Wii on launch day. I now have a PS3 collecting dust since the Xbox One plays blu-rays. I have my Xbox 360 plugged in but rarely flip over to play it.
28. My ex used to do all the cooking so after we broke up I slowly taught myself to cook. I sorta like it! I had avoided it for very long because I associated it with being girly which I thought was a negative thing. But eating delicious food for dinner is not girly, it's healthy! Except when I make lemon chicken...because that uses like a whole stick of butter. Thank good for the internet and Food Network.
29. I drive a 2007 Mini Cooper Convertible, orange color with white racing stripes. It is the first car I bought with my money. She's not perfect but I love her, especially on lovely days when I can cruise around with the car top down.
30. I don't have any tattoos. I have commitment issues and ink is a HUGE commitment. I don't like pain either. It took me 18 years to get my ears pierced and that was enough!
31. I've never seen all of 'Spirited Away' because for some reason I get nauseous about halfway through the movie. Every time.
32. I thought it would be harder to think of 32 random facts! HUZZAH!

Date: 2015-06-22 04:50 am (UTC)I'm directionally challenged, too. I'm usually the navigator when my husband and I are driving anywhere and there have been too many times where I'll tell him to go left and then look back at the GPS and then literally think "which ones left again" and then tell him "sorry, I meant right."

Date: 2015-06-22 04:00 pm (UTC)You and I should form a "from Maryland but not really" club. :P No, but seriously, I kinda know what you mean, having moved here in middle school. Although I have to say I've felt homesick for it, but at the same time, I don't know that I consider myself one properly either. Especially as there's very distinct things about Maryland that I never really grew up with. Ocean City isn't that appealing to me, for instance, because I didn't spend every summer of my childhood there. And I think our part of MD in particular... well, I'm not sure how to put it. It's kind of one of those places where you were either born and raised here, or you weren't. That's not a bad thing or a good thing, it just is. :)

Growing up is an antiquated concept.

I've never read the books either!! But I love, love, loooovvee the movies! And the extended editions are the best!

Date: 2015-06-22 11:16 pm (UTC)1] that's rad. I'm ambidextrous in many ways too. like, most sports -- left-handed. writing, right.
9] Joss Whedon is AMAZING.
17] I almost did my MLIS with Drexel. how was it? good program?
24] I like borrowing my friends' children. that way, I get to see all the fun movies, go to parks and museums, etc. -- but at the end of the day, I can send the crying brat back home, lol!!
26] if you read as slow as you suggested, DO NOT READ TOLKIEN. I mean, he's one of my favourite authors EVER. but his stuff moves so slowly, and he writes so blandly. bah.

Date: 2015-06-23 04:54 pm (UTC)Yeah, I know I can't read Tolkien. I have copies of the books but they are more there to make the shelf look pretty. I've tried to read them but I barely make it past a page. :)

To be honest I'm terrible with my left and right. I still have to do that thing sometimes where I pretend I'm writing in order to remind myself which is which.

Date: 2015-06-30 07:30 am (UTC)I'm the same. I often get jealous of anyone who reads like five books in a weekend because it can take me months just to finish one book. And it's usually because I'm very particular with my reading habits. I prefer reading at night, mostly when I'm in bed, but unfortunately it means I start nodding off due to getting very sleepy. And just in general I've never been a fast reader. I do love reading, I have quite a handful of favorite books, but it's just it takes me some time to get through them.
I went to SDCC in 2010 and I met Joss Whedon and I cried a bit and he gave me a hug, kissed my cheek and took a photo with me. I honestly did not know what to do with my fandom life after that.
JEALOUS.
If there's one thing I want to do, it's to meet Joss Whedon. No matter if it's during the convention circuit or if the rare chance of getting to sit down and actually have, like, an hour or two conversation with him. Because I am very curious about that brain of his. So I'm really jealous that you got a chance to actually meet him and have a picture with him.
I've been to Dragon*Con three times and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THE MADNESS! I will go back someday.
I've only been to Dragon*Con once, but it was such an amazing experience (overwhelming, but amazing) that I would love to to it again in the future, as well.
I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up...though I also have no intention of growing up.
I hear you. I'm in my late twenties and the fact that I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do kind of scares me a bit, mostly because of all the society expectations that you have to accomplish certain things at certain ages. I'm constantly in this HOW DO I ADULT stage that I'm not even sure what is going on. Heh.
I've never read the Lord of the Rings books but I love the movies, and will only watch the Extended Editions. I'm not very good at reading fantasy, I prefer to consume fantasy in visual forms.
Yeah, fantasy in general can be hard to digest and get through depending on how it's written. I could probably read something like urban fantasy, and I have read The Hobbit and such, but high fantasy-like books, not so much. Especially for something like LOTR (or The Silmarillion, which is much harder) is difficult to get through. And being an already slow reader just the thought of attempting to get through it intimidates me. Perhaps I'll try one day, see if I'm up to the challenge. But it is not this day! ;p
I don't have any tattoos. I have commitment issues and ink is a HUGE commitment.
I love seeing tattoos other people have, I think certain styles are really amazing and I commend the talent of the artists who are able to create these particular designs and styles. I've often contemplated on getting one, however while I'm not afraid of needles I'm very indecisive and tattoos are a very permanent commitment.
The only thing I know for sure that I would get, if I were to ever get one, would be the tattoo that Faith has on her arm. Or perhaps a white tattoo.
