In honor of the memory of David Bowie, Square Enix is giving away copies of "Omikron". Yeah, it's from 1999 but it is FREE and actually has a pretty high rating on Steam. PLUS - DAVID BOWIE!

Square Enix is giving it away for free until Jan 22nd. Here's the tweet with the important links.

Things like this makes me wish I had a Steam account thing (I'm a console gamer, not a PC gamer). Man.... I've never heard of this game before, though apparently this is how one of my friends first discovered Bowie - he wrote a whole thing about it on FB, which made me really curious to see what the game is like.

I've never been able to limit myself to just console or PC. There are far too many games out there that are meant for one or the other. Even with the controllers for PC now, I still prefer playing things like Fallout on Xbox but Sims and Don't Starve are far better with a mouse. :)

Steam is free....you could always sign up.... hehehe

I've been a Mac user since 2004-ish, and the computer I owned before then wasn't powerful enough to run the current games at the time... so I gave up on the PC gaming thing. Consoles is easier to manage, I don't have to worry about failed installations, or watching out for viruses and stuff.

Of course Mac has become more of a gaming platform lately, but I just can't really bring myself to play games on my computer. My one exception is point and click adventure games. These kind of games are perfect for PC gaming, but anything that requires quick reactions or aiming, I'd rather do on a console.

So true, it's why I get most of my mainstream games on Xbox/PS4 rather than PC...unless it was built for PC, then I get PC. :) But anything that involves running and gunning, I prefer on console.

And really you shouldn't have to worry too much about viruses and failed installations if the games are obtained legally hehehe.

You are right about Mac though, the amount of games available has grown but is still a lot smaller.

Haha, I guess this is true! I tend to live in the past when it comes to PC games, since I only dabbled with it back in 98-2003 something like that. My old computer was so crappy, though, it couldn't deal with most of the games I tried to install (and had bought legally, physical boxes from a store). Most of the games I bought had to be returned. :p The ones I was able to install (like the very first Sims) offered a ton of add-on content that you could create and download from others. This had its risks :P

Oh Sims...I love The Sims but it's always a problem because you KNOW the base game that comes out will not be the last game you buy. I have all the major expansions for Sims 3 and I don't feel like I played them enough to justify buying Sims 4.

I still have some of my old game boxes floating around (NOT A HOARDER!) because the boxes were just so cool! X-Fing, Tie-Fighter, Monkey Island...I think I cut some of them up to be bookmarks.
