New 'Labyrinth' is not a remake/reboot, it's a sequel

**phew**

And they have been in talks to do this for a few years, so it was not done because of Bowie's death.

Of course, there was supposed to be a Dark Crystal sequel or Fraggle Rock movie too...so I'm not sure if this film will actually happen or not.

It's past noon...I should probably...ya know...shower or something.

OK, I feel better then. A reboot would not win them any favors at all!

Well, that's slightly less awful then.

Regardless though, I do agree with your statements that even if this is planned, it probably won't be happening. I have heard sequels to these kinds of projects for a long while and nothing ever came out from it. I also remember a long time ago there were plans for a live-action version of The Last Unicorn with the original voice actors partaking, but that was stalled indefinitely. So, who knows.

There is some crazy stuff going on with 'Last Unicorn' and rights and stuff. Apparently they are working on a Broadway show now, Fergi has the rights??? But also Peter Beagle is suing Conlan Press, the company he has been with for the past 15 years...it is very weird.

Yeah, I remember reading up on all of the behind-the-scenes drama and legal issues, and it's kind of unbelievable.

I can't wait to see what they do since David Bowie died. Are they gonna recast or write out his character?

I'm curious about the movie... if it does get made...
Though I don't think anyone could take Bowie's place though.

When the Labyrinth news started going around the other day and I shared a link on FB, one of the things I said then was that I half expected it to either not be true at all or to at least never get off the ground. Even with a sequel, I think it's going to be harder than they think to cash in on a cult movie that people mostly love because of all the nostalgia they have for it.

THANK GOODNESS. I actually liked the plot of the sequel to Labyrinth that they did as a graphic novel/manga. I didn't like ALL of how it was done, but I loved the concept. The opening line was Toby narrating, and it was SO GOOD. It was something like, "The only thing I really remember about my older sister was that she told the most wonderful stories. She told me such amazing bedtime stories, full of life and action. Then, one day, she stopped, as if they'd been ripped out of her head.

IT WAS AWESOME I would love to see it done as a movie, but kind of not, because Jareth was in it, and obviously I can't see Jareth being not the Bowie.

I will never forgive the fighting over the Last Unicorn. I don't care who is right and I don't care who is wrong, THEY DID NOT COME TO AN ACCORD BEFORE CHRISTOPHER LEE DIED, AND NOW HE CAN'T BE HAGGARD BECAUSE HE IS DEAD, AND I WILL HATE THEM FOR IT UNTIL I AM ALSO DEAD.

O-kay then. Still sort of weird. They couldn't spend their time coming up with a new thing instead? Soooo many people cashing in on people's childhoods these days, it's ridiculous.
