Target did not let me down

Continuing to Stand for Inclusivity

Also, if I see one more ignorant person say that Transgender = child molester, I swear to the Glob I will lose my shit. There is some awful petition going around to boycott Target. I wish there was some way to counter-act it, like have a "I'm going to keep shopping at Target BECAUSE of this".

I guess the best we can do is tweet and reblog and share this news and say YES TARGET we support you!

And then just do our best not to punch the transphobic people in the face when they start running their mouths.

Transgender = child molester

I just can't wrap my head around that one. There is no sense in it at all.

We don't have Target in Sweden, but if we had I would shop there. Just because.

I am getting sick of all this bathroom ban crap personally. Its driving me batty. My best friend is a transgender person, and she isn't any of what people say that transgender people are. I am getting crap about it in my facebook inbox because of my support against the bill. I just stop responding back to the idiocy of the people who send me messages.

I am a former Target employee, and I am proud of what Target is doing by far!

Yes, best to just not respond. They don't understand and they REFUSE to try to understand.

You have that right! They definitely refuse to understand, and they don't understand basic human rights either. Some of these people who send me messages are supposed Christians too. Sheesh.

I I think for many people, the concern is that "fake" transgenders will come in and hurt kids and women pretending to be trans. But it's still a bad argument, because women and kids can be targeted in bathrooms and other places anyway. As a woman, I'm more comfortable being in the bathroom with a trans woman than I am walking alone in a quiet area and realizing there's a man behind me.

Also, I wonder how many people don't even understand what trans actually means. That it's more than a random guy wearing a dress. I think there's a lot of literal ignorance at play here.

Tim tried that argument with me but it doesn't make any sense. It's the same logic that racists used to keep African American's segregated.

Yes, people don't understand the trans world. I can't even claim to understand, but I'm trying to. My ex came out to me and took me to a few of the support meetings so I saw several different trans people. It really opened my eyes. I think for so many people, it is an Other.

This stuff just rubs me the wrong way and I hulk out when I hear about the ignorance.

I used to steer clear of political stuff, but this recent rash of racism and laws that go against LGBTQ people has just sent me into an angry spiral.

On top of all the transphobic assholery I don't really understand why this has become such an issue. Do people really...look at other people in bathrooms? My experience is that people kind of try to pretend they're the only ones there. Can't we all just ignore each other in peace?

Now I shop at Target more. Because.

But I am glad Target is standing up for inclusivity.

Target pretty much has a monopoly on Minnesota, as it well should. :) I'm glad, because unlike a lot of other stores in the big, discount store line, I consistently find them a good company and am glad to support them (and, you know, get diapers and shampoo on the cheap.)

Target closed out of Canada last year, so I cannot shop there in solidarity.

The "transgender=child molester" crap pisses me off like whoa.
