How dare you. Tremors is a classic. The people involved actually enjoyed making it. As opposed to trying to make an intentionally bad movie and passing it off as an Instant Cult Classic, which is the impression I get from Sharknado.

(Half-joking, but I am very opinionated about my B Movies.)

Lol there is something adorable about anyone defending Tremors (bashing Sharknado is fine)

(And now I've typed Sharknado so many times, my phone can autocomplete it)

Gurl, I will be here all NIGHT if I go into the finer points of what makes a certain brand of cinematic trash more palatable than another, but I need to sleep sometime, so I'm not going to. Let's put it this one: One camp actually likes these kinds of movies and wants to entertain people, even if they can't wrangle a decent FX budget or experienced actors; the other assumes its audience are all morons and doesn't even try.

Basically, I can tell when I'm being insulted (by filmmakers I mean) and I don't appreciate it. Tremors isn't high art, but it doesn't insult the cult horror audience. Sharknado does.

YES.

Well, I haven't seen Sharknado and I'm not even sure what it is, but Tremors is brilliant.

I was totally going to say the same thing, even starting with 'how dare you!'

So bad it's good. Also, Reba is golden.

Oh, I have to disagree here. Tremors is a far superior film to Sharknado. Yes, the premise is ridiculous, but the cast is stronger, and it walks the line between horror and comedy without falling into open camp. Plus, it bombed at the box office. It didn't start getting a cult following until it got to VHS, where its B-film styling was better suited. No surprise Ron Underwood has spent the majority of his career since then in TV.

Sorry if I seem defensive, lol. I love Tremors to pieces (the first one, the sequels are awful and never found the same blend of chemistry with the actors or balance between action/humor), and can't even muster enough passion to enjoy Sharknado as an object of mockery. It has its audience as something to be enjoyed, sure, but it was created with a very different purpose in mind than Tremors was.

Which is far too many words defending a 26 y/o movie, lol. Sorry about that. :)

I beg to differ, Termors was funny & had people like Kevin Bacon 6 Fred Ward in it... :D
...while on the other hand, Sharknado had Ian Ziering & Tara Reid. Ahm, who? Oh, that guy from BH-9021xxx & that chick from American Pie (I don't even remember who she was in that movie).

Also, I loved³ Tremors (our whole family did when I was a kid), sooo no discussion... ;)

Tremors' writing, directing and acting are all head and shoulders above Sharknado.

Tremors really, really holds up. No one is comparing it to Citizen Kane, but the writing and directing and acting and effects work is all top notch.

Sharknado is a boring chore to watch even once. People's actions don't make sense, the effects are bad, and there are long periods of nothing happening.

Here to back up all the Tremors love.

Having seen both, then Tremors has plot, decent characterisation & acting and good special effects.

Sharknado has none of these.

(Though I have to agree with your list...Tremors is a classier version of a B-movie. :D)
