Two movies in one week!? What a life! Loved everything about the beautiful #moana ❤❤❤

It's hard to beat that price tag, folks. $4.50 for 7:25 showing! ALL THE TIME. I mean, the theaters are nothing fancy, the screens are big but not HUGE, but still, if you're going for the atmosphere and the immersion, it works well enough. I'll probably still pay the big money for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' because I won't want to wait. But this was great for 'Moana'.

WHICH I LOVED AND ADORED AND I NEED THE SOUNDTRACK AND POSSIBLY MY OWN LITTLE HEY-HEY TO LOVE AND SQUEEZE!

Deeper thoughts later. Feel free to squee with me in the comments!

The price tag was the first thing I saw, haha. Damn, for an evening showing, that's pretty amazing! (I think even our crappiest little theater is $8-9, if it's not a matinee...)

I've yet to see Moana myself, but am really looking forward to it, whether we manage to catch it before it leaves the theaters or have to wait for it on video. (For some reason our small local theater never showed it, and anything else makes it an expedition we didn't have time for, with holiday travel...)

It's the second run theater but the owner has a first run theater that isn't very big so he moves stuff pretty quick. It just opened last year and I've only been twice but I think I might try to go more often this year because I love going to the movies and the price tag has been my biggest deterrent.

Looks like it will be on DVD in March so you won't have to wait too long :)

I know, right? I think I might go see more movies in 2017. Might even go solo because the theater is just right down the road so it doesn't feel like a big production to go there. The BIG theater is attached to the mall so it usually turns into a TRIP when we go.

For those prices, I'd do the same! As much as I love going to the movies with my husband, I do enjoy a solo outing every now and then.

Moana is such a cute movie and I really really really loved the soundtrack. You're Welcome is probably my favorite though lol.

When I was in the US I barely watched anything at the theaters/cinema at all because the ticket prices were freaking insane - $12 for regular viewing! It was even more insane when I visited Australia lol. I'll stick to the Php220/$4.4 regular viewing here in the Philippines.

Yeah, those ticket prices exist at the first run theaters. I tend to only go to matinees but those are still $8 a person. I am happy that we have this little theater now. It's not super fancy, but if I just want the atmosphere, it will work (I will probably still pay the big bucks for the next Star Wars because I want the surround sound etc)

I take it this is what used to be the $1 theaters? I'm surprised Moana is already showing in one but I guess there have been a lot of things coming out at year's end.

I remember there used to be a $1 theater not too far from home. When I was little it was one of the big screen theaters in the area, when there was usually just the 1 screen. They ended up adding two smaller screens eventually and then became a $1 theater as the multiplexes came in. But it was still a good place to see a movie because of the size of the screen.

Our "$1 theater" is currently $3.50. It was $2.50 until like six months ago! Sigh.

Actually that's not so bad that it was $2.50 for so long. This town's old movie screens became art house theaters so they're not really second run theaters as much as first run theaters for movies that never appeared here (or did a long time ago). And they charge close to the same as the new multiplexes.

Both of the multiplexes remodeled about 3 years ago now, with one of them being razed to the ground before being completely rebuilt. Needless to say the prices jumped since. Even the matinee prices are around $10 per person.

Wooooooow, that's exorbitant. I can get 2 tickets for me and a friend to a matinee at our "nice" theater (reclining seats, etc) for $18 and change. :/

Yeah, that's something I wish they had done. They installed a single giant screen and also several theaters that could do 3-D, but the seating and experience is pretty much the same. The seats are comfortable but they didn't do anything like food service or seating differently, which is what makes other current theaters stand out.

It's a newer theater in a strip mall, but the owner is local and he also owns the theater at the mall which is his "first run" theater, then he shifts them to this one. But that mall is such a dump I'd rather go here LOL! Plus, I like to support them because they donate free popcorn to the library for our movie nights. :)

There was a dollar theater around when I was in high school...i remember seeing Zoolander there and thinking "yeah, that was the right price for that movie" (even though I loved it, I think the price tag made me love it more)

In my latest post I linked an article talking about what happens when one writes for pay, and I think your comment about how much one pays for an item reveals that it affects how we judge what we watch as well.

Oh yeah, if I paid full price for a movie, you better believe I have high standards for it. I'm not shelling out my hard earned money for a bad movie.

Sadly, I think Hollywood confuses quality with quantity so they make movies 3 hours long. This also makes me less likely to see a movie in the theater because 3 hours is a long time and I'm not running the risk of hating a movie that I paid for and being stuck in the theater for 3 hours. At least if I rent/stream I can walk away after 90 minutes and move on with my life.

It's not very long, but there are some quiet moments. We had some youngin's in our crowd, a few of them got the wiggles halfway through when the story calmed down for a bit.

She loves Disney movies and Pixar movies, Frozen being a HUGE favorite. I'm just worried that she'll be afraid when watching on such a big screen and then the problem with wiggles to, of course... I haven't decided yet. :-P

4.50? Wow. Our (closest thing to)local movie theatre is only $8.50, which I've been told is pretty good. But your price is spectacular.

No Moana for me yet. I guess I'll wait till dvd.
