orangerfulStill in denial that it will be December in a couple days. This year went by so fast.
Had a nice Thanksgiving with my family. My parents brought over a big box of wine and I think my Dad had a little too much because he was kinda weird but otherwise it was all good. I mean, my Mom and brother and I are used to sort of ignoring him so it was just Tim and his daughter who had to acknowledge him. I was glad my brother came over, we stayed up until 3am goofing off on the computer. He bought me 'Cuphead' for Steam and wanted to play together. I need lots of practice LOL. Then he tried to back seat dungeon master while I played through a level of 'Darkest Dungeon'. He did the math and told me that he probably won't be around next year for the holidays because he will have gone through basic training and gotten his assignment from the Navy so who knows where he will be. Made me a little sad.
In "I'm an idiot" news, I forgot that over the summer I became allergic to raspberries. Eating them made me throw up. Anyway, I had a training for work on Tuesday and we all went out to lunch and I ordered an ice tea with raspberries in it and about halfway through the drink I felt my face get flush and my stomach started to turn and it clicked in my head. I stopped drinking but the last half of the day was tense. Luckily I was sitting next to a friend so I told her what I had done and kind of asked her to save me if I looked like I was going to pass out or something. I felt SO STUPID the rest of the day. I made it through and got home and passed out, didn't throw up, thank goodness, but I was exhausted.
I watched the first episode of Runaways on Hulu this morning. My bar is set pretty high for that series because I love those comics, they were the comics that got me into reading comics. I love Brian K Vaughan. I wasn't super thrilled with the first episode, felt like too much focus on the kids and not getting the story going. Like, I feel like a lot of what filled up the first 30 minutes of the show could have been summed up much quicker in a 10 minute scene. But I'm going to give the next few episodes a try - pilots are always rough.
The casting for the show is amazing though, they all look exactly like their characters. I understand why the had to age up Molly, it is probably hard to find a younger kid that can act in a show like this. I think it works for the friendship dynamic too. I feel like I should reread the comics again to compare a bit more closely. I am a little concerned that BKV's name isn't anywhere in the credits beyond the "based on the comics by" line...

Vaughan, and also I need to catch up on Punisher and Daredevil, but I might have to watch for DVD on that one. Assuming it comes to DVD... These web streaming shows need to remember that not everyone wants to join every got-dam platform, I swear.
