Just got back from seeing the rebroadcast of National Theatre Live's "Frankenstein" with Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller. So glad they did a rebroadcast since it was originally performed in 2011. Since it is the anniversary of the classic novel, they decided to show it again.
The performances were mesmerizing. I really need to go back and read the original novel. I probably read a dumbed down version at some point as a kid, or maybe just bits and pieces for school, but I am guessing I would get more out of it now as an adult.
It was an intense 2 hours, no break for the actors or the audience. Cumberbatch was just mesmerizing, the word that comes to mind is "visceral" with the way he contorted his body and acted like The Monster was always trying to keep himself under control.
Yeah, this one is going to stick with me. Didn't really give me a lot of hope for mankind. Luckily, I just got the Mr. Rogers documentary in at work so I can watch that later and cry some happy tears LOL.

When we saw 'R&G' we had to go into the city because a little downtown theater was showing it, but this one was in the suburbs...though a very well off suburb so maybe they assumed $$$=culture?
