gotta love new toys

After much research and waffling, I bought myself a laptop. Ever since the computer shenanigans at the library system last year, when we had the crippling malware attack, I've been leery of logging into personal stuff while at work. Plus, with road trips to Wisconsin and my poor iPad pretty much a glorified movie streamer, I wanted something I could use to read and post that was bigger than my phone. I don't mind reading on my phone but I can't stand typing much more than a few sentences.

So I decided to buy a laptop. And since I was going to do this anyway, I wanted one that could handle some simple games so when I take it with my on road trips, I can also get into Steam. I know, probably not necessary with my Switch BUT if I was going to make an investment, I was going to go for it.

I was also thinking about how the heck I used to watch so many things in the past and it was because when I lived in an apartment, my computer was next to the TV so it was easy to multitask. So I kinda like the idea of having a computer I can bring around with me for when I'm watching movies or TV on my own. Like with my Fraggle Rock rewatches. I've been taking notes the whole time but now I can just live blog my thoughts.

Congrats on the new purchase! I've been thinking about getting a new one but need to do some research because there are things like what's the difference between memory and storage I still don't know about.

Tim told me the baseline should be at least 8 GB of memory and a 256 SSD should be enough for basic gaming and everything else. I guess it depends on what you want to do with the laptop. They are a lot expensive if you don't care about gaming LOL. I made it way more complicated than it needed to be.

Phones are nice in their place, but I can't see ever getting rid of my computers.
