It is POURING here. It hasn't rained like this in awhile. I can hear it pounding on the roof right now. And just to top it off, their fixing the lights here, so it's kinda dark right now. Today has been nowhere near as busy as Monday. Aiieee! they just turned the lights back on. Now it feels very bright.

For some odd reason, Hotmail will not work on these computers. This is the only branch that I have this problem. It loads but there is an error on the page. So I can see that I have 30 e-mails (from the star wars group) but I can't read them or reply them without having to hit "refresh" every time. Grrrr.

Got a call from the library HQ this morning to set up my interview. First week of April. Wouldn't it be crazy if I actually got a job??? She called right when I walked into the branch and the cell phone was getting no reception, so I could hear her voice, and I assumed it was a library because of the phone number, so I was laughing because there was no way i could work anywhere else today. Then she said she was calling the schedule my interview and I was like "wha??"

I need to go to Target after work. I really don't feel like driving anymore than I have to in this rain, but tomorrow I work until 9 and friday we're going to the museum so I don't know if I'll have time then. Blah.

My new Sims couple had a baby. I named him Creb, sine his mom is Ayla (Clan of the Cave Bear references here). So far he's a super-genius. Though I was kind of bummed because Ayla and Randy are no longer in love, they just have crushes on each other. That was sorta weird. I think I'm not going to let them drink the Elixir of Life anymore. My sims need to start dying off. I had them drinking it because Ayla was too old for Randy. But now I made them the same age, so it's all good. That game is far too addictive, especially when there is nothing on TV to distract me until 9pm!

Yay for Clan of the Cave bear references!

haha. "hello there left field! how've you been?"

Those books are just....well....mildly addictive & irritating. She writes one what? every 1,000 years???

Maybe you could make her a new man named Jondalar (spelling?) haha.

see, AD read the entire series over the summer. Then he kept talking about it, so I broke down and read the first one. Then he told me about the second one (and how it's so naughty) and I've been scared to read it. Honestly, I don't know if I can take 200 pages about Jondolar's "manhood". hehe. We own them all though, so I'm sure one summer I'll read "Valley of the Horses". I thought about checking out the book on tape, but then thought how awkward it would be to pull up to a stop light and have him revealing his "manhood"...could you imagine the stares from the other cars hahaha. ah man.

I tried to watch the movie but it was far too silly.

I did a whole lot of skimming for dialogue after the 2nd book. haha. Just skim skim OH LOOK DIALOGUE! She goes a bit overboard with description.

We watched the movie in school!! Can you believe it? It was hilarious. My teacher turned the TV around for the one 'naughty' part. I read a book in the dark. haha.

On a random note: I was on the Hogwarts_Elite sorting site today and the moderator of the Hogwartssorting community was applying for membership. She spent most of it pushing for Slytherin and trying to cover up the fact that she is a huge Gryffindor. Then she spent awhile bashing the Gryffindors from hogwartssorting (my house). She said she had so much trouble from them. I wrote this huge explanation and squibbed her. Hopefully I won't get kicked out of her community for it, but she pissed me off. ---thought I'd share. haha.

we're gonna have to hook you up with the new expansion pack too, because there are more job options and one of them is showbiz. Then you can make SimBritney a superstar and have her support SimAndy. hehe. You need to get a hot tub, they love making out in the hot tub.

I let both of my Sims get old last night. I had kept my other Sims alive by having them drink the elixir of life that you can get in the rewards section. But that was just silly, plus the entire family has overrun the town and they have no one to date!

Good luck with the interview! I'm assuming this is for the SPK openings? Just think, if you do get a permanent spot, (And honestly, I'm sure you'll get it if you want it.) you'll get to experience the fun-ness that is the GSM! ;) woo-hoo

Yep it's for the SPK openings. (though now I'm nervous because some of the PTH's have made faces when I said I applied there...apparently SPK has a bad reputation? I dunno). Full time would be nice...not having to worry about paying the bills...having my own benefits...not having my parents bug me about when I'm getting a full time job....

GSM...GSM...that sounds familiar yet I'm not sure what it stands for...

"General Staff Meeting" It's the once-a-year, close-the-libraries boredom-fest. Actually, it's not that bad... Everyone complains about it, but I always really enjoy it! Just for the fact that we all get to see each other from everywhere in the system and hang out for the day. I think it's pretty cool.

And yes, SPK has a little bit of a rep. It's a very nice branch, but I've heard that some of the people there (that have been there forever) are very stuck in their own little ways of doing things. Of course, you'll find some of that everywhere. Anyway, as with the rest of the system, a lot of them are retiring. And if they fill those spots with new, more flexible people, I think that reputation will start changing. (hint, hint) And besides, if it ends up driving you crazy, you can always wait for an opening at another branch and switch after 6 months. You may actually like it there, but even if you don't so much, believe me, the benefits and leave you get with a permanent position can help to stomach a lot.

Now, I don't personally have an opinion of SPK since I never actually ended up working there when I was still a PTH. Every time they asked me for hours, I was booked somewhere else already. So, I've only been there for meetings. If you've had any hours there, you probably already have a better idea. Or you can talk to people who have transferred from there. Like Whitney over at WCO, would be a good person to ask questions about the branch.
