The Chosen One
May. 19th, 2005 06:19 pm*deep breath* Boy, has it been a very interesting couple of days. Where to begin? How about, near the beginng?
As Palpy says, everything was going as I had forseen it until around 10pm. Suddenly, I get a call from
zaubervz telling me that they had been in an accident. And there were several accidents before/after their accident. He was freaking out, but everyone was alright. I told them to call me when they figured out what they were gonna do.
verdatum,
destertale,
maybemanda,
dstntp1lgr1m, and their buddies were already in line, so we joined them. Al showed up seconds later. The Senator was glorious, "STAR WARS EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH" on the marquee (stupid me didn't take a picture but I'm sure someone will post images) and on the side, "Tonight, the SITH hits the FANS". Priceless. Doors opened around 11ish and they started to get everyone seated and popcorned. I snagged myself a red t-shirt. Did a bit of panicing as 11:30 rolled along and I hadn't heard from my folks. So I called on the cellphone and they were trying to get here, they were on the main road, but they were "driving slow because something was leaking". That's my folks - hardcore! And they made it!
Just in time too. The owner had just started a speech about how awesome Star Wars fans are, how we are "an enlightend cult" that the media just doesn't get. He talked about going to Skywalker Ranch and says that is is as close to Shangri-La as he's ever been. He talked about the "evil empire" that is major movie chains, and that our presence at The Senator on opening night made us the "rebel base" for the mid-atlantic region. We also watched a quick and dirty fan film made by a fellow in-line person, though he had only finished the Episode I line footage, it was fun to watch and remember. It might be worth it to go back to the Senator to see the finished film and relive the magic. Then the "This film has been rated PG-13" came on the screen and you could feel the buzz.
Then the 20th Century fox logo came into focus and the cheers started, when the Lucasfilm symbol gllimmered on the screen the applause was overwhelming. Then....silence.
a long time ago in a galaxy far far away....
STAR WARS
(explosion)
( Episode III - MAJOR spoilers )
There is so much to talk about with this movie. So much I have to say but I'm going to stop because we have all summer and I know I will see it again. Needless to say, this movie was amazing. It is the best of the prequels, by far. It made me want to watch my original trilogy all over again (though I'm still a firm believer in the IV, V, VI, I, II, III viewing order, though you might as well add IV, V, VI to the end of the list again so you can end on a happy note). I'm so happy we get to go out on this note in Star Wars movie history.
I'm ready to see it again. and I know I will.
(okay, I swear this is the last time I post with this icon)
