This is pretty cool - apparently to tie in with The Simpsons Movie, 7-11 is transforming a handful of stores into Kwik-E-Marts!

Unfortunately, the closest one to me is in Bladensburg! And that's a HIKE from here. Ah well, I shall live vicariously through the pictures.

So, on Saturday night, we went down to Muvico and saw 'Live Free or Die Hard', the 4th Die Hard movie. I rank 'Die Hard' and 'Die Hard: With a Vengeance' on my list of "movies that are just plain fun to watch". Yes, they are not masterpieces of modern film or acting or writing. They are just mindless fun. Like 'Kinky Boots', I went into the movie knowing exactly what I was going to get - lots of explosions and smart ass comments from Bruce Willis, Justin Long trying not to die, and a villian that is so bad (and a silly cameo by Kevin Smith). And I got it. And I liked it.

Sidenote - they filmed a chunk of this movie in Baltimore. I didn't realize this. But it is the weirdest thing to see a city you are familiar with pretending to be D.C. (I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] vertigozooropa and [livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr have experienced this, since poor Vancouver is forced to play several locations in the US on so many tv shows). But then I started giggling about how difficult it would be to have a car chase in Washington DC with all the stupid crooked roads and circles. The entire chase would last about 30 seconds, in which time they would be forced to drive on the grass and for some reason end up in front of the Capital building at least 5 times. Seriously, that city makes no sense.

But the statue they are stuck next to right before all hell breaks loose? I've been stuck to that very same statue, I think it's on Charles street. Just weird.

But yes, if you're looking for a no brainer popcorn flick, (and you've enjoyed Die Hard movies in the past) you won't be disappointed. :D

well, [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly and [livejournal.com profile] heiland_coo will be very proud of me - I finally sat down and watch Bridget Jones's Diary. (thank you [livejournal.com profile] heiland_coo for lending me the dvd!).

Before I go any further though, I must say...

OMGWTFGAiUS!!!!!!

Seriously, I had this weird BSG fangirl attack when I saw James Callis sitting with Bridget. (And a very small HP fangirl twitch when I realized her other friend was Moaning Myrtle)

(psst, [livejournal.com profile] demonqueen666, use your mad video editing skillz and made a very funny video of James in Bridget Jones mixed with BSG footage...yes, you know you want to!)

But, yes, like we discussed earlier, Bridget is definitely a fun movie. Not great art or anything, but just a classic romantic comedy. I knew what I was going to get, sat down and got it and left happy! I mean, how could I be disappointed by Colin Firth and Hugh Grant? Even if Hugh was playing a bit of a scum bag and poor Colin hardly ever gets to smile.

I'll probably watch 'Edge of Reason' later this week. Next time [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy has a raid on WoW.

And now my internal monologue has a British accent! AIEEE!

([livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly, have you made an icons of Bridget's friends? Hm???)
