Star Trek bracelet?

Do you like my Star Trek bracelet? It's so stylish in black and bendy-plastic. It goes with any color (which is good since I still haven't ordered my t-shirts yet) But, guess what - it's so much more!

fascinating! )

Wow. Just wow.

I had no idea. I bought his CD on a whim. I think [livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr had blogged about him and I was still a member of one of those god awful CD of the month clubs with too many freebie points, so I got his album "Twentysomething" for like $5. So when we arrived at Carnegie Hall, I expected a guy at a piano with the occasional band members backing him up, since a couple tracks on the CD had drums etc..

This guy has so much energy and charisma. Even from our seats in the "Dress Circle" (read: almost the top balcony but not quite), it was hard to resist the vibes he was sending our way.

He opened with a cover of Rhianna's "Please Don't Stop the Music" which was awesome! He walked on stage in a suit jacket and tie, and as he had a break from the piano or vocals, he'd disrobe a bit more...after the second song finished (a Cole Porter cover, but now I'm blanking on which one...it will be on his new album later this year), he tugged off the dress shirt and revealed the striped T underneath.

AD and I were both reminded of MIchael J. Fox's performance in Back to the Future, when Marty plays the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance and slides around the stage, because Jamie kept sliding into the piano (okay, now that I'm typing it I realize this is clearly a lot more Jerry Lee Lewis than MJF, but whatever! You get the idea - he's a SPAZ and he ROCKS! Or whatever the appropriate term is for a jazz pianist).

He played for a good solid 2 hours. The crowd wanted more but unfortunately, Carnegie Hall has some sort of "done by 11" rule, so the boys were denied a true encore. But the show was awesome. I hope that when the new album comes out he does a full fledged tour and comes to D.C. or B'more.

Until then, enjoy the photos and check out some of his recordings.
