Well, I was supposed to spend the evening playing Sims 3: Ambitions but the UPS man decided to come by the apartment at noon (who the heck would be home????) and then not leave the package at the office like a normal UPS man. So instead I found myself floundering around. I played a bit more of Red Dead Redemption...I'm a pretty crap cowboy. I've died at least twice, lost the race to Bonnie (pretty badly too), and managed to not-save at least two people that I was supposed to save...oh and my bounty got away before I could shoot him. Not gaining that "Legend" status any time soon, that's for sure. But the game is fun and very very pretty.
I may have a crush on Mr. Marsten. He's quite the roguish looking fellow and he's got a gravely voice. When he retires from bounty hunting, he should read books on tape...or record...or telegraph, whatever was around in the 1800s...
It's funny because it's really just GTA in the Wild West, so instead of fast cars, I'm stealing fast horses. But for some reason it doesn't bother me as much. Maybe because it's acceptable to think of the West as a wild and uncivilized place filled with lawlessness that only one man can control...and just depressing to think of our major cities the same way.
Whatever. I'm on a horse.
I've collected at least 32 stars in Mario Galaxy 2. That game is so fun! I LOVE that you get to play as Luigi for a few levels. Luigi is my homeboy. I don't know why, maybe because he wears green, maybe because he's the underdog...I prefer Luigi to Mario. Even if Nintendo insists on making him look like a dufus (PROPAGANDA!!!!) I know that he's actually much smarter than Mario.
Finally got around to watch my Close Encounters of the Third Kind on blu-ray. I hadn't seen that movie in forever. At least 10 years, maybe more. The blu-ray was gorgeous. I watched the Director's Cut (the blu-ray had 3 different versions but this appears to be the best). It's such an odd movie because it feels more like a documentary than a film. I mean, for the last 30 minutes, there had to be barely any dialogue, certainly almost nothing from the main characters. Just the music. And it just sort of ends.
I should get the other side of Spielberg vs. Aliens when 'War of the Worlds' arrives on blu-ray later this week (got it free with credit card points!).
Frak, is it really 11:45? I should probably get to bed.
OH! But before I go, my friend/Libraryman Andy just joined Livejournal. He's an author-in-the-making and he likes to blog about random stuff, but mostly he posts on books. It's not f-locked so you can take a look.
andy_wolverton - pop in and say hello!
