Terry Pratchett is not a happy camper. And while I can understand his frustrations, I don't think there's any need to try and start a war between him and Rowling. Honestly, Sci-Fi/Fantasy is such an ignored genre, and Rowling is probably breeding his next batch of readers. Just chill Terry, making statements like this will cause you to lose readers, or at least, turn the HP fans off of your books before even picking them up.

So this is my first real day off since July 20th. I plan on sitting on my butt all day, preferably in front of the TV or computer. Perri wanted me to come to the Shaun of the Dead viewing party, and I had been trying to decide all week if I was going to go or not. But I just do not feel like getting in the car today.

My Star Wars Lego game is messed up. The disc is faulty. And all the stupid electronics stores won't let you do returns without a reciept, and the Circuit City near by me has sold out of them game, so I'm gonna have to go to the Arundel Mills, Bowie, or Annapolis store to get my exchange. BLARGH! More driving. I've got 30 days though, so I could wait a bit, do it after the Maine trip.

I think I'm gonna load up my iPod now.

Screw Terry Pratchett. It's a hard knock business. JK Rowling just happened to tap onto something that everyone wanted a piece of. Her success speaks for itself. Maybe he's upset that HIS books don't seel as much as hers, but there are plenty of people out there who love to read and don't like Harry Potter. Hey Terry, just get grinding on your own books and give us something to "oooooh and aaaaaaaaahhhhhh" about. Until then, shut your ass us up.

exactly. I've never really been that fond of his writing style. People told me to read him after I finished Hitchhiker's Guide, comparing him to Adams. He is nothing like Adams, his humor comes from a different place and I just wasn't that impressed.

He should just chill. The reason Rowling is getting all this praise is that she's created a character that appeals to both kids and adults. She has brough fantasy into the mainstream, something that really takes a lot of work nowadays.
