Oh man, I'm trying to be good and not read any of the GoF reviews coming out now. From the sound of it, most of them have been pretty positive, but I don't want to get any ideas into my head. Or be spoiled for any nice touches the scriptwriters or director might have added. Nope nope, must stay spoiler free. Thursday is so close! I can do it!

Had my interview. I think it went alright. Had a few brainfarts where I probably could have said more but didn't. Ugh. Interviews are not cool. They need sorting hats that you can just put on your heads and it puts you in the best job right then and there, this whole waiting a week to find out...ugh.

And now, I want to speak to the Veronica Mars fans. I'm only up to episode 4 of season 1, but I have some questions/issues I want to address.

Okay, I have to say that I am enjoying the show. It's nowhere near as good as Buffy, but it amuses me. But I am having a big issue with Veronica pre-murder investigation. Her earlier life. Am I supposed to like it? because, honestly, that dead chick, her friend, yeah, she's a bitch and the kind of girl I would have hated in high school. She's like an uber-Cordelia. And I find myself very uncomfortable during Veronica's flashback scenes because I'm not like "wow, that was the good life", I'm more appaulled and sort of "god, you hung out with someone like, WHY!?" Like, the most recent one I saw was where she was going to the homecoming dance with her new boyfriend and she keeps having these flashbacks of Lily (that's her name!), Duncan, and the other guy who's name I forget...anyway, Lily is in her uber slut dress, then she gets a limo and they go to the beach instead of the dance and they get drunk and play that stupid "I never" game and of course the ol' virgin question comes up and Lily mocks her for it and blah blah blah and I was just sorta wondering how Veronica really feels about these memories. Are they just memories to her? Does she long for that life again? Does she wish she was a totally self absorbed bitch like Lily was?

I guess we're supposed to assume that she wants a bit of both, since at the end of that episode she is actually going to the dance, but she stops and goes skinny dipping (one of the other "i nevers" she had to drink on). btw - what's the point of skinny dipping alone? I mean, you might as well just take a bath.

I don't know, it bothers me. Buffy and the gang were outsiders and I loved them for that because I don't feel as though I ever really was an insider, but I had some very close friends in high school. Buffy was cordelia-esque before she was called, but she understood that there was more to life than being that way, and when we meet her in the series, she is happy with having her good friends and being part of the fringe. Veronica doesn't feel that way to met yet (again, only 4 episodes). Instead, she has this whole vibe of wanting to be back in that group, to return to the little rich kids circle *shudder*. She needs a willow is what she needs. She needs her somewhat geeky sidekick. Not that the guy she hangs out with isn't geeky, but one guy isn't enough...and her dad can't count. And her boyfriend who looks like Iceman from the Xmen movies doesn't count either.

I like her dad though. I like that actor. He keeps me coming back to the show, just for more of his fatherly hijinks.

Yeah, maybe I'm just a prude. Maybe I'm bitter that I never did stuff like that in high school. I never wanted to though. I was very happy with the HS experience. I never really understood the whole getting wasted thing...I never went to any homecoming dances though...I think they were up against X-Files the first couple years and after that I didn't care...or have a date? I just...I never liked the kids like that, it was such a stereotype and i hate people who are walking talking stereotypes. If you're gonna rebel or be crazy, at least find a unique way!

and remember if you comment on VM, no spoilers! I have no idea what happens at the end of the season so don't ruin it for me! But please discuss or tell me how you feel

I took tomorrow off, so yay. We'll probably do something fun and exciting like grocery shopping! Oh yes, my life is so crazy! haha. Can you believe that thanksgiving is next week!? United States thanksgiving that is (since [livejournal.com profile] vertigozooropa was kind enough to point out that Canada has a different date for theirs...btw Dan, it should be called 'US thanksgiving' since we're technically all part of America :P)

okay, I'm gonna take my break now!

EDIT: forgot to mention - I made another pretty, yet insanely simple wallpaper, this time with SMG/Buffy

Heh, I usually stay away from reviews because it seems that I tend to disagree with most film critics, anyhow. :) I'm really excited to see it, but I'm thinking I may have to wait for "US Thanksgiving" ;D to see it. Ah well. Here's hoping we'll have a sitter.

I'm sure you did just fine on your interview. *hugs* But, that whole sorting hat bit... didn't they address that in Gattacca? ;P

I love your new wall. :D I love how you added the color to her top. It's quite striking.

:D thanks! I actually just made that my wallpaper haha. It was so easy to make I feel guilty, really it just looks good because Sarah is so pretty!

True, they did address that in Gattica...but if I ended up with Jude Law, I'd hold off on registering any complaints! Juuuuust kidding. I didn't mean it in a 'brave new world' sense, more of just an interviewing sense - like instead of having to suffer for a week, it would be great to show up for the interview, put a hat on, have i mumble for 20 minutes then say "FULLTIME RIVERA BEACH" really loud. then I could go home knowing all went well. Now I have to wait a week. Good thing I have HP to distract me!

Yeah, SMG is pretty, but it's all in the presentation. :) Like I said, it's a really striking wall because the red just jumps out at you. If it were just a B&W pic of SMG, it would just be a nice picture. :)

*laughs* I know what you mean. I was just bustin' your chops, hun. :D It would be kinda nice if a hat could just let you know the answer to an anticipated question right then and there. But like you said, you have HP to distract you. :) I'm still crossing my fingers and toes for ya!

Hey about the about the VM. I would say yea she does long for those days in the flashbacks. I watched the show until they moved channels on me. you'll get a little more info onver the next couple of episodes, if you're about where I stopped watching.

Well, it goes without saying that I am a VM fan since I waxed poetic to you about it again and again.

I agree with the comment about VM and Lily's relationship. I never understood VM's "attraction" to Lily. When I watched the flashbacks its hard to believe that Veronica was part of that crowd. I prefer the present day Veronica, tough and in your face.

Alot of people say that the show, VM, is a replacement for Buffy. I totally disagree. Both shows are their own separate entity. Many people need a replacement for their Buffy fix and they've chosen VM.

I never went to high school functions and I never wanted to. They had to force students to attend the pep rallys and we had a top ranked football team. Hardly anyone cared.

What I did like about Lily is that she wasn't scared to speak her mind. Maybe that's what also appealed to Veronica. Veronica was kinda of mousy "back in the day."

I can't really comment too much without revealing something spoilery.

I'd to hear your reviews on the latest disc you received.

Oh good, I was hoping you'd read this as this was the thing I was going to talk to you about when I was on the J desk the other night until that patron showed up needing help. The nerve of some people!

Yeah, I guess we're supposed to just accept that since she was Duncan's gf she was allowed into that group...but why was she Duncan's girlfriend? Hm. Again, I think I need to watch more episodes. I really like the show, and I"ll admit I got teary eyed when they showed the little 'Lily tribute' at the end ot he last episode, but I am going to need more convincing before I truly understand Lily's character.

I'm going to keep watching though! Disc 2 is here but since I'm watching LOST tonight and probably House on Friday...guess it will have to wait until next week! :) But I will watch it!
