alternative energy source - Pearl Jam
May. 31st, 2006 07:47 pmLast night was AWESOME! Let me tell you.
The day started out not so great. I think I was running a fever from whatever the heck it is I have. So I took my hot shower and ended up sweating as I was getting myself together. Then I walk outside and it's 95!!! WTF! not even June yet and it's 95. My car was a sauna on wheels, it had to be at least 100 in that thing. I have no air conditioning and it's a 30 minute drive to work, plus I'm feverish. In my mind, I'm starting to worry that I won't survive to see the show!
EDIT: Setlist and scroll down for photos from the show!
beckanon look! Mike McCready is wearing an IRS records t-shirt! haha.
there is good sweating and bad sweating. The morning was all bad sweating, too hot and so uncomfortable.
zaubervz and I took the Metro downtown and cooled off. We got to the show, and it was amazing, and I danced, and popped and got all sweaty again but it was a good kind of sweaty, a fun kind of sweaty, not this gross sticky stuff that's going on right now.
I even managed to see
sideflip1! She's the story that you don't tell the MySpace generation - we met online to trade dave matthews band shows for pearl jam shows, back when my PJ fandom was just starting. And then she ended up having an extra ticket for the Philly PJ show that year and I agreed to drive up (alone) and meet her there for the show! Luckily, she's just a really cool chick and not an axe murderer, and I got to see an awesome concert that night too haha. And last night, I got to see her again! Pumped for her, was it 37th? PJ show. That girl is hard core. She's also really really cool.
dstntp1lgr1m was also at the show and managed to sneak down from his level 400 seats to say hello. He hasn't posted yet but I'm hoping he had fun too.
Anyway, the band was fantastic. I just felt so energized the whole show. And I forgot how HOT eddie vedder can be bouncing around on the stage the way he does haha. Especially the way he dances with the microphone haha. McCready was bouncing all over the stage, entertaining everyone he could see, or not. They played stuff from every album and a few covers too. Like last time, you could tell the crowd hadn't quite learned the words to the new songs, but unlike the 'Riot Act' tour, you could tell that people were at least familiar with the tunes and the songs were solid.
And I have to say, it was nice to see a band that didn't have big flashy screens up during the performance. I get to spoiled watching the video screens that I forget the real show on stage. Pearl Jam was all about the show, everyone in that band has personality. I can't even express how much FUN it was to hear them singing so many great tunes in one night. I've pulled out all my PJ albums and I'm rockin' out again. They still have a nice mix of rock and politics; Eddie intro'd "fuckin' up" by saying that Dick Cheney requested it; they also played 'Masters of War' a Bob Dylan song that still rings true today...the more things change...But they weren't afraid to break out their more mainstream tunes like 'Animal' or 'Alive'. Eddie always looks so amused when the crowd sings along, when he tells us it's our turn and lets us do an entire lyric or chorus. haha.
Yes, good show GOOD SHOW.
One question - what was up with the booing of that one guy on keyboards? The old dude who looked really weird.

Date: 2006-06-01 02:56 am (UTC)Eddie is hot. It's those jeans, he wears some tight jeans and then he turns around and does his little bopping white boy dance hahaha. Any other guy does that and he's Napoleon Dynamite, but Eddie does it and it's like *drool*
