more new buffy figures on the way!

orangerfulJust when I think I should stop, Diamond actually gets GOOD at making Buffy sculpts. Okay, some of these are misses, but there are a few that are really great looking sculpts and figures I'd like to get my hands on. What I don't understand is how their faces can be so off on some sculpts and so much better on others. For example:
I really like thisFaith from the Angel episode 'destiny' figure. I mean it's not perfect but it's better than Faith from Enemies and from 'Faith Hope and Trick'
Giles also gets some odd treatment - Giles as 'Ripper' is pretty close, though they seem to have gone a little overboard with his chin. But not as overboard as they went on his chin here. Did no one bother to look at these figures from the side? Hm.
I was originally pretty sure I wanted to get the Buffy/Angel Prom pack, but after seeing pictures I have to say, never mind. Could they look more "blah". It's the PROM! Why isn't buffy smilnig? Why is she so stiff? She's an ACTION FIGURE! *headdesk* And who stole Angel's neck?
These Spike & Angel figures do look pretty good though. (at least they have necks!). Though I gotta say, Diamond, if you're gonna make accessories, at least make them FIT!
Princess Cordy - um, who beat her with the ugly stick?
Hot Dog Man Xander - again with the ill-fitting hats (he does come with a plate of cheese though)
Vamp Xander is SUPPOSED TO BE HOT! Instead, he sorta looks like E.T. or a Ferengi (none of the xanders look very good actually, bummer)
'You're Welcome' Cordy - this figure has improved. I like the face sculpt a lot better than the earlier versions
'The Wish' Cordy looks pretty darn good too. Might have to get this one.
'The Watcher's Guide' set with Giles, Wesley and Spike? Just because he dreamt he was a Watcher? Hm, nice try. Good sculpts on all three figs though, might be worth it.
The Buffy Accessory pack is like a geek quiz - can you find Mr Gordo? Yes of course I want it!
but not as much as I want THIS Oh library playset, you will be mine. Oh yes, you WILL BE MINE! Seriously, that's some quality work right there.
You know, it says those pictures were uploaded in April...I wonder if I've ranted about this before. I swear the photos look different. *shrug* ah well. I still want/mock them all!

Date: 2006-06-06 01:27 am (UTC)Eliza and Jennifer must have hard faces to sculpt, they have very unique lips. I think it's the lips that throw off the Faith/Sydney figure. The top lip to be exact.
