you can't take the sky from me
Jun. 21st, 2006 12:14 amI just want to say, 'Serenity' (the pilot episode of 'Firefly', not the movie) is a fantastic episode(s). Watching it again today, I still get so very tense at that moment in the cargo bay, with Mal, Simon, Book, Jayne, the Fed, and Kaylee...okay, the entire cast is in there. It's just a freaking fantastic bit of writing, acting, directing, and editing. I've seen it a thousand times, but when Kaylee walks thru that door and gets shot, my heart skips a beat. The way Inara runs down the steps to be next to her and immediately covers her with her coat. The look on Mal's face when he argues with Simon over saving Kaylee. Jayne getting ready to kill the fed for shooting her and Book holding him back.
Just. AAAAAH! I love this show. I know, I know, I gush about Joss enough as it is, but the characters on this show and their relationships are just so mature. Perhaps that's why Firefly was doomed; it wasn't another show where everyone wanted to sleep with everyone else and secretly hated the rest of their companions. They were a family.
Jayne crouched down and staring thru the little window into the infirmary to check on Kaylee...that's a beautiful moment. It says so much in that one shot. That Jayne will talk tough and embarass Kaylee but really he loves her. He's her big brother, poking fun and rough housing but he would never hurt her.
I'll stop there. I could go on and on but I think just about everyone on my flist is a Firefly fan, so I'm really just preaching to the choir. But if you haven't watched your copy of 'Serenity' recently, pull it back out this weekend. Everyone gave 110% while making that episode.
Yeah, so, let's make this post interactive! Reply here with a favorite Firefly moment and gush with me! Any moment or moments!

The opening of Serenity with Wash and his dinosaurs cracks me up.. but there's no way to describe that scene. It's just something you have to watch. I pretty much love anything to do with Wash, because he reminded me so much of Matt and he has some really great one-liners. Actually, all of the characters have their moments to shine.. they were all treated equally, even though they were ranked. (Wow, cheesy much?)
"Ariel" is one of my favorite episodes.. and "War Stories." Gah I need to have a marathon weekend again. I haven't watched them all in so long. :(

Date: 2006-06-22 02:40 pm (UTC)Ishould also tell you too, though mom is adamantly AGAINST Buffy (she thinks it's immature ever since watching the episode "The Body") she has been caught telling friends over the phone to check out the movie "Serenity." Which I find immensely amusing.
