ZOMG! Why was I not alerted to this? They're making a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie! Can't tell if it's a "remake" of the first one or a new story. Looks like it's all CGI...this might be awesome.

The "teaser trailer" is up on the site, though [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy pointed out that it looks more like a tech demo ("look, if we make it look like this, can we make the movie?" "oh damn that was cool, okay!") but still!!!!

:D

Did anyone else get a TMNT meets Sin City vibe from the opening bit of that? *snicker*

The turtles look awesome. I hope they make it like the class turtles and not like this craptastic cartoon re-make I've seen on the saturday cartoon line-up. I loved the turtles, man. If they can do it right?

That animation is amazing, btw. WHOO! Thanks for sharing!

I appreciate the darker feel I see in this TMNT trailer. Before I ever saw the cartoons (which many people think came first) I read a number of the original graphic novel series, which was very dark. TV made it more humorous than it was originally intended (although it did have humour).

ONe series in particualr fascinated me, and was quite on the Gothic side. The turtles, drawn more realistically with sharper beak-like mouths, were trapped in a morbid dream scape with a large crow with only a skull for a head, and decayed bodies and bones were strewn all around. It was great and very imaginative.

Now I'll have to go an dig up the graphic novels I do have. Very cool, however, all were done in black and white (also done for more dramatic effect) until they started crafting some of the series like the cartoon and did them more in color.

Done babbling.

yeah, the internet movie rumor mill says that this movie is supposed to return to the "gritty and ironic" style of the original comics. I enjoyed the cartoons when I was a kid (though I have not watched them since) and I saw all 3 of the original movies in the theater (yes, even 3!...in fact I remember the review for TMNT3 because the reviewer was so shocked that he had fun haha). I think I have one of the comics that came out right when the TV show was just starting, so it's in color. I remember using it to practice drawing my own turtles LOL!

Ooooh looks like Mirage Studios has even put issue #1 online! (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/mirage/one/pg01.htm) sweet. Wonder if they have released a nice trade paperback...*off to amazon!*
