excuse me while I fangirl
Aug. 1st, 2006 12:51 amGuess what book we got at the library today? SNAKES ON A PLANE - THE NOVELIZATION! No joke. I'm totally going to check it out. It's actually quite large for a movie tie-in novel. Might even be longer than the Superman Returns novelization. Doesn't seem right, does it (though "muthaf*****" is a long word, especially when spelled out in all caps, perhaps that accounts for it.)
Speaking of Superman (and I'm starting to do that about as much as I speak of Joss...no wait, that's impossible!)
One - Kate Bosworth was too young to play Lois Lane. I thought she did a great job acting, but she can't hide the fact that she's YOUNGER THAN ME! I really did like her in the movie, but she's too young to be the mother of a 5 year old, and I think that's probably the biggest problem - she's not a very convincing mommy. And she can't be 23 and a star reporter AND a pulizter winner. I think she was trying to play older but couldn't.
Two - after paying very close attention, I noticed that Lois never actually says that Richard is the father of Jason, except when threatened by Lex. Jimmy just says that Lois has a kid and that she's engaged to Richard, never actually saying that Richard is the father. Lois does say that Jason will grow up "big and strong just like his daddy". I guess the question is - does Richard think he's Jason's (paternal) father? He really can't.
Three - I really REALLY like James Marsden in this movie. I mean, Cyclops was alright, but Richard is such a great character for him. He does heart-broken very well. Poor guy.
Four - I get the exact same feeling in my gut as I did when the Jedi were slaughtered in RotS when Lex's cronies beat up Superman. And also when he falls to earth.
Five - I'm only up to chapter 7 in the Superman Returns novelization but I'm enjoying it. I want to know how many of these scenes were in the first draft of the script because some of them ring pretty true, as far as foreshadowing, to what happens near the end of the movie. I hope there are some nice deleted scenes on the DVD...and commentary.
Six - um....Superman is awesome.
Seven - no wait, I remember what I wanted to say, Superman movies, right, none of them are really perfect. (I really do not like the whole "going back in time" thing in the first superman). But they do something to me, they make me all happy and feel good and that's why I love them.
Eight - it also kills me that Superman does in fact try to fly after Lex stabs him, he puts his arm up and then just collapses and it's so very very sad. And the look in his eyes when he tosses away the LuthorLandmass....
Nine - Clark never did find a place during the film. So where exactly has Superman been living? Just zipping over the Kansas every morning for a quick shower?
Ten - *flies around the room humming John Williams' theme*

I'm not going to give away any plot-holes or any spoilers, but the Samuel L. Jackson character -- he want's those nakes off his plane -- SERIOUSLY!"
"Heart stopping action with snakes, and a plane! This is book had a life changing effect on me. I learned to love mother natures little helpers, but not if they are on a plane. You have to get the mother freakings snakes off the plane." (Note: grammar mistakes aren't mine.)

But yeah, Superman rocks! Sigh. I want Zod. Played by Anthony Head!

Date: 2006-08-03 03:17 am (UTC)I think Lois knew, she's always known. I think that's why she's so desperate to get Jason off the boat when she's trapped with Lex. And the look of fear in her eyes when Lex puts that kryptonite in Jason's face. Yes, she knew all along.
ZOMG ASH as ZOD! would be so
hotawesome!!! someone call Bryan Singer right now!
