We're back! got back this afternoon actually. Airports weren't as bad as we thought they'd be after the scare earlier this week.

I'm still out of it, but I will post the thrilling tale of our adventures soon (with pictures).

Right now, I will just tell you about last night - we saw 'Little Miss Sunshine' with [livejournal.com profile] beckanon, which was really good. A sweet movie that just worked. I'm not going to tell you anything about it because it's best to just go see it without any knowledge, it's funnier that way.

Anyway, that got us talking about Steve Carell, and Daily Show, and [livejournal.com profile] beckanon told me she'd never seen an "Even Stephen" bit from the Daily Show. YouTube to the rescue!!!! We spent a good hour+ watching hilarious clips of Stephen and Steve before they became the comedy stars they are today. So, for your viewing pleasure -

Stephen Colbert outtake from 'Strangers with Candy'(if you only watch one, let it be this one)

Even Stevphen - The Existence of God

Even Stevphen - War in Iraq

Even Stevphen - U.S. involvement in the Middle East

Even Stevphen - Islam vs. Christianity

This Week in God v1

The Week in God (11-12-2003)

This Week in God (2004-02-12)

Oh there's so much...so many hours of funny....

Oh, and then there was this, which [livejournal.com profile] beckanon found for us - Colbert interviewing Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton from DC

And she had never seen the "more cowbell" sketch from SNL.

Well, you captured our evening pretty well for someone who wished to recreate it! Can't wait for the rest of the write-up!

Oh Stevphens.. how I do love thee..

re: bad things on planes, I guess this was inevitable.. in fact, I'm surprised there's just this one. Personally, I bet you could come up with something better: http://craphound.com/images/liquids-on-a-plane.jpg

On the way home today I stopped by the used CD place we didn't get to yesterday. I ended up getting the first Crash Test Dummies CD- one of those things I felt like I should buy solely because I used to listen to it all the time in tape form years ago. Anyway, I mention this because I had forgotten about "Superman's Song" and wondered if you had heard it, being that you're all about the man of steel these days.

mmm.. that's it for now. wait, what's that song in my head.. the king of glor.. d'oh! Only thing worse than not being able to get the song out of my head is that it's accompanied by the image of the little dance AD did at the airport..

I don't think I've heard that song, but obviously I should have! They released this CD (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EULJYC/sr=1-4/qid=1155789998/ref=sr_1_4/102-9277954-3708160?ie=UTF8&s=music) when 'Superman Returns' came out by the Amazon reviews are pretty harsh. I'm surprised that the CTD song isn't on there! Hm. I feel a mix coming on. You might need to send me that track...

ok, I'm emailing you the track (right after I post this). Let me know if it doesn't come through.

The first CTD CD was lots of fun, but then some evil producer got ahold of them, decided that their two biggest selling points were their quirky lyrics and the singer's uber-low voice, then turned their music from quirky to ponderously pretentious and made the singer sound like, as Blender.com puts it, "the jerk at the office who can burp the alphabet". And they've sucked ever since, or at least I assume they have, since I gave up on them.

But then what does Blender.com know? I mean, look who ended up at number 13 on the list of "The 25 Biggest Wusses.. Ever!" I mean, really..

I think the only CTD song I know is the one that Weird Al parodied...uuuh...and I can't remember the title now haha.

bwahaha, "twee" really gets ya going. Paulie is number 16! I'm afraid to look at the rest of the list! How many of my bands will show up there!

The song was probably Mmm Mmm Mmm, which was released as their first "hit" single, but is unlistenable ( see #31 )

FiveForFighting has a Superman song, but you probably knew that (you've got me searching for Superman songs now)

haha yeah I managed to avoid that song, I only know the melody.

Five For Fighting I know, I have the album! Plus the Smallville soundtrack which also has the song (that's how my mom heard it, she luved it).

The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices!
Open the gates before him, lift up your voices!

Who is the king of glory; how shall we call him?
He is Emmanuel, the promised of ages!
