I dunno how this stayed off my radar for so long. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy just told me about it yesterday when he saw a blurb on one of the gaming sites - Sam & Max are coming back!!!

Now, Lucasarts didn't change their mind. It looks like another company, Tell Tale Games, picked up the license. Reading the site, it sounds like a few of the programmers had been working on the abandoned sequel and that the original creator is still involved - all good things to insure that the wacky will happen.

Only bad thing? It's coming out in "episodes" which I'm not too sure about. Especially since they haven't announced a price yet. They say that they will most likely release them on an actual CD once a few episodes are out, but no word on a timeframe for that. They currently make the video game version of "Bone" in the same style, and I remember playing the demo of that and thinking it was kind of fun (but my dislike for 'Bone' in general made me not want to play beyond the freebie). Looks like the Bone episodes currently go for $13 a piece, which seems like an awful lot, though TellTale has said that the Sam&Max episodes will be shorter but with less wait time, so perhaps the price will be lower? I'm thinking I might have to download the first episode just to get a taste....

Anyhoo, I'm off to do a short shift at West County so post some replies to keep me amused since Sundays are usually pretty quiet....(famous last words)
