I don't know, but it seems to be an epidemic-- at least one a month. Many are from out of town and I guess they don't get the way subways work, you know, with a sunken track and all. Cell phones and texting probably contribute (I saw one in NYC which was clearly a woman distracted by her phone-- blab blab blab and oops, over the edge she goes). Drunkenness also helps, I'm sure, but hey, at least they aren't behind the wheel. I was just looking for the NYC video and couldn't find it, but I did find a stat that said last year 146 people were hit by NYC trains with 47 deaths. That's almost one a week! So yeah, now the video makes more sense.
