First - Veronica Mars -- I thought the final two episodes were pretty good and that we had a chance to see each character doing what they do best. My only complaint is with the second episode, but it's only a complaint because the show is over now. If they had been renewed for a third season, that ending would have been fine. But now that it's over, I think I know a better way to have ended the show.
See, it was all
I don't understand what the deal was this Logan - the whole hissy fit on the beach (they should have had him drinking a bit more because if he was totally sober and being that big of an asshole, that's way worse than being drunk and running your mouth), and the beating of Piz was just a bit much. I'm almost happy the show ended how it did because if Rob Thomas really wanted those two together, he was going to have to have Logan re-programmed because it was clear from last night that he was all to ready to slip into the abusive style of his father.
I love Dick Casablancas. He was a total Dick to the end haha. And Mac had some spotlight time, always nice. Poor Wallace had to strip and get zapped but oh well.
Anyway, I'm really going to miss that show. Rumors are already flying about Thomas saying he'd do a movie but I'm not going to hold my breath. And if he wants to do a movie version, he should work with Joss so it will be awesome. ;-)
Second, Heroes -- While I teared up at several moments, after it was all over I felt sort of "oh...?" I liked that it wrapped almost everything up, leaving enough loose ends for next season but not too much. When Nathan flew down to take Peter, I started to cry a bit. But I was underwhelmed by Hiro's stabbing of Sylar. Though from the big of "volume 2" at the end, it's clear to see that Hiro will be around next season.
My theory is that Nathan is dead, but Peter is not. BUT we won't see him until sweeps week of season 2. I'm also guessing that part of season 2 will be about the parents - it looked to me that under the mask, Kensei was Hiro's father. I'm avoiding casting and other spoilers though. I think Peter is going to come back all RotJ Luke - with his powers under control and all badass like. I figure the thing that is "worse than the boogeyman" will be the villian, though Sylar will be lurking (like the Joker in Batman).
Third Scrubs - I've only watched the first episode of the 2 episode finale (what's up with that anyway? Is that the new "in" thing to do?) but I'm concerned about the whole "we'll be together for the kids sake" mindset of J.D. -- if he and Kim end up hating each other, how will that be a good thing for the child? But I suppose he's just saying he'll try it out. Again, haven't watched the second episode, but if they attempt to hook up JD and Elliot for the 6th time, I might go into rant mode.
okay, time to arrange my desk and bookshelf

Date: 2007-05-24 12:03 am (UTC)Heroes wise, interesting thoughts. I know a casting spoiler, but I wouldn't tell you because I'm nice like that. ;)
Have fun with your desk and bookshelves, mine are badly arranged. I really need another one... ♥

Date: 2007-05-24 12:17 am (UTC)Because he had to. He's a betrayer, and betrayers must always repay with heroic sacrifice, if they are to be forgiven. It's dramatic law.
But as soon as we saw that Nathan could fly Peter up into the sky, we had to realize that Peter could do it, just as easily as he'd been using everybody else's powers for the whole episode.
And, when it comes to that, if Ted Sprague could control his powers, as he had done several times previously, why did Peter not read his mind (as Parkman was standing next to the both of them) and learn how not to explode every time he gets riled up?
Jeph Loeb should have seen these things, if Tim Kring could not. Kring is a comics novice, never having read one, and being incapable of doing so, due to a peculiar learning disability. Loeb is a comics master, and should have been able to concoct the obvious plans, and make sure that plot points were added to prevent it. Why could Peter not fly? Why did he not immediately start reading minds when Parkman appeared?
I'm not knocking it. I just feel that the finale lacked power it could easily have had, had they simply complicated the plot a tiny bit more, to cover up the holes.
And as for Sylar getting stabbed, I think we, as an audience, are getting tired of Heroes who leave dangerous baddies half-killed. Hiro, at the very least, should have known that the bad guy always gets up for one last try, especially a super-powered baddie like Sylar. After going through so much to stop him, the least they could have done was make sure he stays dead.
Yes, the rule goes that your heroic characters should only do what they absolutely have to, and never take an action that is not forced out of them, but we're all a little too sophisticated to believe that one sword impalement is enough to stop a super-villain, and, again, Hiro knows about super-villains.

Date: 2007-05-25 03:27 am (UTC)Especially now that we know Keith is awesome. I need to get season 5, that's the year of Scrubs I missed so I never actually saw them meet and get together.
Here's hoping the writers are not total morons.

Date: 2007-05-25 03:28 am (UTC)I love 'Scrubs'. It has to be one of the most under-appreciated shows out there. Consistently funny AND thought-provoking, how do they do it??
