Well, I gotta say thank you to [livejournal.com profile] jellibean - she did a retweet this afternoon of the NBC Universal Store's special Comic-Con giveaway where all you had to do to enter was retweet the message. Initially they just had one prize - Hiro's Sword from Heroes - but they felt generous and added a second prize at the last minute. AND I WON!!!!!!!!

*spazzes*

9 times out of 10 all the cool retweet contests happen while I'm at work and I miss out so I am totally thrilled abou this. PLUS it's actually a pretty cool prize - it's the Double Helix Heroes logo as a necklace. They only made 1,000!

Now I get to stare at my mailbox starting next week (they said they would mail it on Monday) and wait for my prize...

I am totally wearing it around Dragon*Con. :D

Lost is just getting ridiculously frustrating. The writing is just ridiculous. At the start of this episode, I thought I saw a glimmer of hope, but no, it was just a cruel cruel joke...

no future for you! )

Clearly, I am no longer watching these shows in the right mind-set. I just can't take them seriously because the writing has been so "meh" this season. You can see they have a grand plan for ONE episode, so they spend 3-4 trying to GET to that episode. Next week's better be good!!!!

(also I appear to have lost the ability to remember anyone but the main character's names...)

Yes yes, I'm a week behind due to our little Internet outage last week. I finally sat down today and watched 'Heroes'. Just some very quick thoughts:

cut in case someone else is further behind than me! )

oooh [livejournal.com profile] jellibean, this is far too amusing - BBC Robin Hood action figures. Yes, your very own Robin to luv and squeeze and call your own!

The Sheriff's Castle Playset is also amusing.

The Heroes figures are do not look as bad as they did in the original promo shot I saw. Claire looks a lot like Claire. I still do not want them though I'm hoping they sell well enough to make it to the Series 3 line - come on Kristen Bell Elle action figure!

Absolutely no pics of the second wave of BSG figures. I want to know if Starbuck looks less crap! Doesn't really matter as according to the DST site, the toys have been bumped back...gives me time to figure out where this first wave will live...(and I'll post picture and comments about them soon too, promise!)

Heroes action figures.

Right now, I'm going to pass. I enjoy the show but I'm not in love with it. And the sculpts look okay but I'm not blown away by the likenessesl. (though if the line survives long enough to make an Elle figure that at all resembles KB, you know I'll buy one of those).

But I wanted to share - [livejournal.com profile] jellibean, don't you think the Sylar fig would make a cute gift for Joe? Or maybe he should buy one for you so you can have a mini-Joe to carry around hahaha. (oh goodness, lots of weird customization jokes just popped into my brain, I've been hanging out with toy collectors for too long!)

Win a Hockey game with Chief! -- Ronald Moore blogs (what else is he gonna do while the writers are on strike?) about how you can win a night out with Aaron Douglas "Chief" on BSG. Pretty cool ([livejournal.com profile] jellibean can vouch for Douglas, they are totally tight! But only when she's dressed as Callie...it's actually a little creepy....)

The producers of Heroes were at MIT a few weeks ago to discuss the whole "viral marketing" and other internet tie-in schemes that the studios are doing now. [livejournal.com profile] bittertwee emailed me a link to the podcast! It's 2 hours long, a bit of a listening commitment. I'm downloading it now.

Scott Westerfeld edited a new collection of essays on 'His Dark Materials'. The essays are all written by YA authors. It's a Borders Exclusive. OoooOOH! Unfortunately, that means I can't put it on my Amazon wishlist. Phooie! I might just have to go and buy it for myself...NO, no buying things for me until after xmas...i should still be around then, right?
orangerful: (HRG and Slusho laugh // orangerful)
Oh, is that what all the fuss was about? ;-P

LOL - you know Heroes must have been good when the first 5 posts on your flist are all LJ-cut for your protection and include icons of Sylar growling and at least one "WTF!" haha.

Shhhhhh I have not watched yet.

Slusho!

I'm sure this has been done already, but I haven't been monitoring any Heroes icon comms so :P

[livejournal.com profile] jellibean introduced me to this wonderful blog done by one of the Heroes crew members, Greg Beeman. Last week's episode entry had many amusing photos, including an odd series of our favorite characters interacting with what appears to be some sort of iced beverage, "Slusho".

So I made icons because I was bored.

I might go back and add text to them later (Beeman provides some pretty funny caption on his blog) but this will do for now. :)

Best part of Heroes last night?

spoilers duh! )

thank you [livejournal.com profile] jellibean for sending me a link about this -- rumor has it that my favorite kick-ass blonde chick, Kristen Bell, might be appearing on 'Heroes' this season for a few episodes! weeeeeee. And this, on top of the big "Lost" casting buzz!

[livejournal.com profile] qtbuglet told me that she heard Bell wanted to get back on Broadway and do a few musicals. I say, please please please! If she does a show in NYC, I am TOTALLY driving up there to stalk her see it!

I hope it is all true!

I cannot explain my love for Kristen. It just is! Don't judge me!

For those of you that have not gotten into Angel, now is your chance - Amazon is having a sale and season 1 is 55% off!! (that's $18!) I need to buy season 1 again because my first disc is scratched beyond repair. :(

In the "I think I just threw up a little" category, we have this link, provided by [livejournal.com profile] beckanon. For those of you that don't know, I was a total band-aid to Howie Day during his very early years. I have since become very bitter and jaded (I need a "Dead To Me" board like Stephen Colbert). And we all know the real question - who hasn't been seen leaving Britney's house in the morning? SLUT!

I'm sure by now you've all heard about the new Heroes spin-off series - Heroes: Origins I like the idea of running all 24 Heroes episodes without a break and then having this series start - better than suffering through those god awful long breaks! (I supposed I could just buy the season 1 dvd and rewatch it during that time too...)

In other news -- [livejournal.com profile] heiland_coo made her first LJ post ever! *applauds* welcome to the monkey house jungle FUN! Her first bit of rambling is about her love affair with the Sistine Chapel! And I am her only friend (so sad) so if you're into that sort of thing, go check her out. Erm, I mean, her entry - check her entry out!

Tonight's 'Heroes' felt like another 'setup' episodes. They seem to have those every once in awhile where you can just see the writers sitting at a giant chess table, trying to figure out exactly where to put all the pieces so the next episode will kick ass.

spoilery under there )

Yatta!

orangerful: (goes to 11 // orangerful)
You know...I didn't really notice Hiro saying "Yatta". I still associate the word with this video that [livejournal.com profile] simontrueheart showed us a while back. But when he yelled it in the "previously on" clip before today's episode, I heard it and realized that it was, in fact, an exclamation that he just says (according to some crappy free Japanese to English dictionary I just googled up it means "done"...anyone confirm or deny this?)

Anyway, to all those people who I assumed were obsessed with half naked men singing in Japanese but were in fact quoting Hiro, my apologies.

and now, the spoilers )

Well, so far this has been a week of quality TV

Heroes & VM - spoilers ahoy )
orangerful: (totally wicked // orangerful)
So, livejournal was down, I couldn't sit here and compulsivly check my flist every 5 minutes while playing in photoshop -- so what did I do instead??

I just watched the 6 episodes of 'Heroes' that have been sitting on my DVR for weeks now.

And let me tell you, I'm totally hooked!! What a show! Edge of my seat, thrills, chills, laughs (yes, I adore Hiro, he's awesome! "I DID IT!")

I think it usually airs while we're raiding in WoWz, so I might start staying up late Monday nights to watch the episodes post-raid time.

weeeeeeee, the high of a new show that doesn't suck. I just hope they can keep it up!

I saw that Bryan "Wonderfalls" Fuller was in the credits, and the minute my brain realized who that was, in the next shot, the little wax lion was on someone's dresser!

yes, if you have not checked it out, I highly reccomend it. gooood stuff.
