orangerfulGot the new Buffy comic today, #6 for season 8, (#1 on Brian K Vaughan's Faith arc)
Jo Chen owns my soul, her comic book covers are just gorgeous. Why anyone would bother with the variant covers is beyond me. I want to frame all of her covers!!!
-- is it just me, or is BKV totally shipping Giles/Faith? Especially in that last page of the comic. hehe. "five by five"
-- I love Giles' sweater. Ridiculous, but adorable.
-- So, from what we can tell from the Buffy & Xander conversation, Giles has gone AWOL to contact Faith and get her to perform this mission. This will most likely come back and bite him in the ass later. Especially with Buffy having those "The Queen Is Dead" dreams. Think she will end up in England looking for this evil slayer?
-- I can't tell if Robin set up Faith or if he knew that the kids would be vamps...the language is nice and vague. He didn't think any of his girls could "take care of them".
-- Faith's staking of the apartment wall reminded me of Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham stabbling the plate of meat in 'Prince of Theives'
-- I already dislike Genevieve...not sure if she needs to die yet, clearly its the warlock that is behind her fall.
-- Faith stabbing Giles with the fork was very WTF!
-- "Faith, do you honestly think you're the first young person to have stumbled upon the notion of rebellion?"
-- Xander's taunting of the the punching bag? Solid gold.
-- panel with Xander peaking out from behind the punching bag after realizing Buffy is in the room with him? Classic. His face is just perfect in that panel. (And Sunnydale Swim Team t-shirt ftw!)
Also, if you have the comic, flip to the back with the letters to the editor and read the second note with its reply from Joss. Priceless!
Strong start to the new arc. Not the best comic yet, but like the first episode of a season, you're wondering where it will all go...
