for those of you that are sick of Bermuda posts...BSG toys update!

So, before we left for Bermuda, I got myself all riled up over the next wave of Battlestar figures. In a fit of fangirl/collector rage, I emailed Diamond Toys and told them that the figures looked like poo and my friends and I were not going to buy them if this is what they would look like and wtf was up with the new Helo figure when we are already getting a Helo in wave 1. And here, gentle readers/BSG fans, is the response:

Rest easy that the early images for our BSG Series 2 figures are definitely subject to change. The Starbuck changes are the most comprehensive. As far as re-releasing Helo goes, we felt he was popular and liked enough to warrant a second figure especially considering his first figure will be a retailer-only exclusive. Wait a little bit and we should have new images of BSG Series 2 soon. I hope that helped ;)

So, keep your eyes peeled for less-sucky images of Wave 2. If you see them, let me know! (I also just noticed that the current picture has, in very small print "not actual cylon figure" above the Cylon's head...worrisome....)

Also, looks like there will be a Wizard Exclusive figure of Admiral Cain. Not sure if I want that. I don't really like her at all. And something tells me (from the few clips of 'Razor' I've seen) she won't be made any more *ahem* endearing in the miniseries.

Well, that's a slight relief. Not that I plan on buying any regardless, but still. Always nice to see your fandom representin' well.

And I'm not at all surprised that they're releasing a Cain figure. She did some truly godawful things but my GOD, was she a compelling character; dark and twisted and so very human in her inhumanity. The fandom built up around her is huge.

A little FYI: it might just be my layout, but your entry displays the reply from Diamond Toys as just one looong line of script, and it makes my flist go all wonky.

ew, sorry about the wonky flist! I hate when that happens. It looks fine on my page but I'll fiddle with it since I just copy/pasted it from the email. Maybe it didn't like it.

The actress who plays Cain is just not someone I like. I remember her from Star Trek and I hated her then so I was already anti-Cain the first time I saw her. We watched those episodes pretty fast just to get away from her. haha.

btw now that I'm all caught up on BSG, can you recommend a good comm to join that will keep me updated on the show and such but not flood my flist with too much randomness?

Oh! And I almost forgot...I also recommend friending wisteria_. She's a huge Kara/Katee Sackhoff fan, but she's also execellantly on top of BSG news in general. She's one of the mods for the fandom newletter comm, but when there's not enough info for a full newsletter update, it'll still be in her personal journal.
