One of my co-workers did the math for me this evening, and if I keep a full course load for every semester, it is possible that I could have my MLS completed by 2009.

Wow. I was thinking it would take longer. But the whole thing is only 15 courses (45 credit hours).

Of course, I would have to stay full time the entire time AND pass all the courses.

That's almost too soon!

I have to wake up early tomorrow. I'm going into D.C. for the OCLC conference. The topic: "Social Networking: Fad, Folly, or Future?".

I've never been to an event like this. I feel like I'm crashing a party! Hopefully they will have some new ideas, or maybe even examples of successful use of Web 2.0 sites with libraries.

Alright, I'm going to go read 'Extras' and then go to bed!

It's never too soon to finish grad school.. Trust me on this one. Anyway, we're still talking 2 1/2 years, right? I bet after 2 1/2 years of 3 courses per semester you'll be ready!

A conference.. cool! I say social networking is all three- fad, folly and future. I also bet that someone will make this statement within the first hour of the conference. Looking at the panel, I also say that you may know as much about social networking as some of the speakers. They should have asked you to speak!

I think it must be an accelerated program, because we figured that I would be wrapping up my last quarter in December of 2008! We'll see though, it would mean sticking with the 3 courses thing and that might just be crazy! haha.

And you were right on both accounts. Everyone had at least one slide that was like "Fad - yes and no, folly - sometimes, future - definitely". And I totally could have knocked the speakers down and gone up there myself. Not a whole lot of new ground. I was sort of disappointed. I have a few sites I wrote down of examples of public libraries using Web 2.0 stuff, but those didn't actually come up until the Q&A at the end.

Oh well, they gave me free food!
