I dunno but it took too darn long to say it.
I don't understand the Oscars. I mean, they complain about how long they are each year, yet each year they add some extra thing that stretches the show out longer and at the same time they cut back on people's thank you speeches. Did I really need to see 59 "old" oscar recipients? I mean, we're talking about Jennifer Connelly, people who won last year! I understand aknowledging the really old peeps, but why did we spend 15 minutes going through 59 people that we see 45 of all the time? Then kick people off the stage as they struggle to thank all their loved ones in 45 measly seconds. 45 seconds??

Adrien Brody gets my personal award for best acceptance speech. He was so amazed to have won and so happy to be on stage. And he even made the orchestra wait until he was done. (That's the oscar montage I want to see - everyone telling the conductor to put his baton down!). A very sweet speech that managed to thank all his co-workers, his family, and even toss in a bit of anti-war sentiment. And all done in good taste.

The people that make me aggrivated are those like Micheal Moore. He's no better than the people in North Carolina that want Natalie Maines to apologize to them for expressing her opinions about president bush. He's the kind of person that gives people who are anti-war a bad name, because he uses this excuse to bring up too many other greivances.

Look - I'm not for this war. Never have been and I never will. Nothing has convinced me to support this attack. I can take Bush being president, whatever the deal with votes was. I can take all of this ridiculous "homeland" security crap ("homeland"? What are we doing "comrades"?). But this war is a whole other matter. And if I feel the need to speak about the war, I will stay on topic and not throw out low punches towards these other topics. To do so is to not give a good argument. Extremists on both sides of this argument point to such odd things that it makes the middle people like us look stupid. We're not.

I'd like to point out also that most of us who are against this war have NOTHING against our people fighting abroad. It is not their fault that this is happening. I don't understand why people think that if you're against the war you are against the military, - because you are not. I am for peace. I am for understanding. I am for living in the 21st century and attempting to get along with other nations. I want America to move beyond this adolescent image of the cowboy challenging the "savages".

Poor Natalie Maines felt like expressing her embarassment that Bush claims to hail from her homestate - Texas. I believe the constitution guarantees us the right to express our opinions no matter who we are. Yet Natalie is being attacked by Congressmen left and right and so called "fans" are telling her to shut up and sing. Why should she be denied her right to express her opinion just because she is on the stage? It's frustrating and infuriating. and I think the attack on her shows that people do not know where to point their emotions about this issue.

I think Bush has blown it though. For months he has been preaching that the war would be short and sweet and over before we knew it. Yet as soon as he sent the troops into Iraq, he came on TV and changed his tune. It might go longer than they originally thought. A resounding "DUH!!!!!!!!!". Now, men and women, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, lovers, friends, and future all of the aboves are dying out in Iraq for a cause that seems ill defined and perfunctory.

I am happy that people in the spotlight, like Natalie, are not afraid to express themselves. I am happy and proud of all the people (except Micheal Moore) who took 2 seconds of their precious 45 to wish peace on the world. Some media stations want you to think that America is pro-war. We are not. We are split down the middle. To pretend that we are not is to deny our American-ness.
