Wanna learn Chinese?

This is sort of interesting. It's a new free MMORPG where the entire goal is to learn Mandarin Chinese and immerse yourself in Chinese culture. It's called Zon.

I, of course, am far too lazy for this. The if it actually works then maybe someday when I have free time I might dabble in it...

whoa- thanks for the heads up on this. I think one of the research groups where I work was/is working on something like this, but it looks like we got pwnd! (unless they are behind the scenes on this game, but it doesn't look like it). I think I'm going to check this out- I'll report back. The thing I'm curious about is whether there's a microphone and speech recognition involved. Because if it's just learning some Chinese characters, then it isn't really learning Chinese, at least, not how to speak it. Still- it looks cool. I think we are going to be seeing more and more of these types of games.

I'm not sure how it works. I read the little "about" section and there was no mention of a microphone so I have no idea what it is actually "teaching" you. Perhaps the research group still has a chance!
