Ren-festivities
Oct. 4th, 2008 09:53 pmWent to RenFest today with Amy and Joe. Managed to bump into
dstntp1lgr1m and
_____saveferris along the way, which was cool. Behaved myself when it came to souvenirs and just got some yummy honey ("Meadowfoam", tastes very sweet like marshmallows) and an earring/necklace set. Went for purple this year, which Amy pointed out will work with all my black tops.
We got there a bit late since I was waiting around for the guy to fix my windshield and then we got stuck in the looooooong line. Lesson learned, we shall arrive at 10:30 next year. Got our turkey leg on and, since it was Oktoberfest weekend, we imbibed a bit. I had some Hardcore Hard Cider and a Bee Sting (Hard Cider AND Meade mixed together. Had quite a kick to it as well).
Amy and I were going to rent dresses but we were unimpressed by what was available. Of course, we also decided that spending $800 on a dress we would only wear twice a year at most was probably not the best investment ever.
Personal highlight of the day: We watched Swami Yomahmi's show, which was all about becoming an uber-geek. The show itself was just odd, but his intro was fantastic. He asked the audience if they were geeks by saying: "If you think 42 is the answer?....If you know that with great power becomes great responsibility?....*puts up his fists* If you know that these are not the Hammer...this show is for you." Oh I lul'd. Dr. Horrible is EVERYWHERE!
Shakespeare's Skum: Tag Team Romeo & Juliet was also HI-larious, especially after just seeing the play. We are totally seeing that group again next year.
We topped off the day with yummy sushi. So now I'm full of raw fish and about ready to pass out from all the fresh air. It was a good day.
