Quick thoughts: Dollhouse
Feb. 28th, 2009 01:18 amEliza is still very pointy, but nowhere near as pointy as "Sierra". Pretty sure if you rubbed up against that girl, you'd get a nasty cut!
Still avoiding the casting info on Alpha so DO NOT POST IT HERE! Please and thank you. :D
- nice bit of bonding between Dr. Amy Acker and Boyd, Echo's handler (slowly learning names). Though I fear for the safety of Amy's character - I just read on Whedonesque that she's signed on for a role in another tv show. Not sure how big a part...
- I was very surprised by the reveal that the Russian was, in fact, a doll! I did not expect that. Finally, Dollhouse catches me off guard. Makes me want to watch more episodes, even if this one wasn't the best thing ever.
- Echo's nod to Sierra as she passed her in the Dollhouse was interesting. Is this more left over memories from before, knowing that Sierra's handler made that comment about Echo rubbing off on her.
- More info on Boyd and how he differs from the average handlers - i.e. he more than a Watcher, he still wants to solve crimes.
- I hope we see more ofHelo Paul's neighbor. She seems like someone we should know more about.
So, yeah, not the best thing on TV but I can't give up hope. AD just commented that the show needs to include more of the main arc, but I'm sure FOX thinks we're too dumb to follow the complicated season-long plot that is planned so its been dumbed down to a drop per episode. But that is what we need to see! Like
cheshire_c said, what is the point of watching if there is no character development? (FOX's reply? boobies!)
If you haven't read today's Penny Arcade comic, and the post that goes along with it, you should. Gabe and I clearly have a few things in common (my statue is silver though). Tycho is clearly struggling too, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered linking to Hulu...I'm sure they get pings for how often the show is linked to, no matter what the context.

Date: 2009-03-03 03:20 am (UTC)As soon as I saw Sierra I thought of you and the points. She is uncomfortable to look at, it's pretty sickening really. SAVE ME FROM THE POINTS, can't we go back to actresses who have to gain weight to be in Joss's shows?
I was happy to see a few twists in this episode, with the headshake to Sierra and mr-russian-doll (I dub him Matryoshka).
I agree with AD, I hate complete one-shots, gimme da arc!
